Effect of Ultrasonic Power and Flow Direction on the Extraction of Canola Oil

초록

영어

In our previous study, we investigated the effect of SFE conditions on the extraction rate and yield and the composition of extracted canola oil. Our experimental results showed that the extraction yield and rate were significantly dependent upon particle size distribution, application of
ultrasonication, and ultrasonic power. In this study, we have explored the effect of modified SFE system on the extraction rate and yield, and the composition of extracted canola seed oil. In particular, the effect of the flow direction of SCCO2 was studied in detail. Prior to extraction canola
seed was crushed into fine particles, and then extracted by SCCO2 at different temperatures ranging from 40oC to 80oC while keeping the pressure and CO2 flow rate to be constant as 400 bar and 6 L/min, respectively, with and without application of ultrasonication. The ultrasonic
power was adjusted in the range of 80~180 watt. The composition of the canola seed oil was analyzed by HPLC/ELSD using a gradient elution method. Also, the fatty acid composition in canola seed oil was analyzed by GC /FID using area % method by transesterfication of extracted oil using methanol.
