This study evaluated the meaning of the elasticity in putting the social welfare in practice subjectively, utterly from my opinion of it, telling the difference between elasticity having been used in economics and resiliency having been used in social welfare practice technology by Roberta R. Greence.It may indeed be true that, as Roberta R. Greence has said "The resiliency theory is new paradigm in social welfare practice technology," but there is no doubt as to the confusion produced by the indiscriminate or various translation of the word in spite of translation faithful to the original of it.In explaining the relation between elasticity and resilience which has been translated into "elasticity" or "flexibility" by one society for the social welfare research, one must not forget the fact that there exists some meaning difference which has been ignored in sorting out them by many social welfare scholars. Therefore, I make clear the difference between the meaning of elasticity and the it of resilience, and I applied the meaning of elasticity to all the regions of social welfare practice including the correctional social welfare.

elasticity란 보통 일반적으로 경제학에서 사용되는 용어이다. 보통은 탄력도, 탄력성으로 번역되는데 이와 구별 되는 개념이 resiliency인데 이는 원래는 회복도란 의미이다. 그런데 현재 국내의 일부 연구자들이 resiliency를 탄력도 또는 탄력성으로 번역해 오고 있음에 필자는 주목하여 그러한 resiliency의 개념으로 기존의 사회 복지 현상을 추출하고 운론하는데는 무리가 있다고 주장하고 오히려 경제학에서 사용되어온 elasticity(탄력성)란 개념이 앞으로의 사회복지 실천이나 교정 복지 실천등 모든 사회 복지 실천 영역에서 혁명적 패러다임이 될 수 있다고 생각한다. 따라서 필자는 경제학에서 사용되어온 elasticity를 이용하여 교정복지 생산등 모든 사회복지 영역에 적용하여 시론적으로 운론하여 보았다.
