The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between self-perception to feminity and premenstrual symptoms in women. Prospective data were obtained from 337 nurses who worked for some university hospitals located in Seoul, Kyung-gi, Kyung-book areas. Premenstrual symptoms were rated by using the Daily Record Severity of Problems(DRSP) for 1 menstrual cycle. Self-perception to feminity and masculinity was evaluated with Korea Sex Role Inventory(KSRI). Valid data obtained from 187 responders were analyzed. The prevalence rate of PMS was up to 116(62%), whereas the number of subjects without PMS was 71. Self-perception to feminity was not significantly whin two group. There was no significant negative correlation between the total score of the DRSP and the feminity score of the KSRI. Among the DRSP items, each score of ‘felt overwhelmed’and ‘felt depressed’ items showed a little but statistically significant correlation with feminity score of the KSRI. These results suggested that some mood symptoms of PMS might be related to self-perception to feminity.

본 연구의 목적은 여성성에 대한 자기 지각과 월경 전 증상의 관계를 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 서울, 경기, 경북 지역의 일 대학병원에 근무하는 간호사 337명을 대상으로 월경 전 증상에 대한 매일평가서를 월경 1주기 동안 평가하게 하였고 한국 성역할검사에 응답하게 하였다. 이 중 187명의 타당한 자료가 분석되었는데 PMS 집단이 116명(62%))이었고 Non PMS 집단이 71명이었다. 두 집단 간에 여성성 지각의 차이는 통계적으로 유의하지 않았고 월경 전 증상에 대한 매일평가서의 총점과 여성성 간의 상관 또한 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 하지만 월경 전 증상의 매일 평가서 각 문항과 여성성 지각의 상관 분석 결과, 우울감과 압도감 문항이 경미하나마 유의한 부적 상관을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 월경 전 증상 중 우울감과 압도감과 같은 일부 정서적인 증상들이 자신의 여성성 지각과 관련되어 있음을 시사한다.
