The current research was to examine whether or not consumers’ product knowledge moderated a fit between temporal distance and ad messages. In particular, this research replicated the study from Kwak and Kim (2006) to further demonstrate the moderating role of product knowledge in a different context with a different product. The findings revealed that participants with higher product knowledge (versus lower product knowledge) rated ad messages as more believable, and they demonstrated higher purchase intentions when the fit between temporal distance and product information is congruent (versus incongruent).
