This study purposed to examine the perceptual difference between police officers and private citizens(civil servants, residents, and police science majoring students) about community policing in their areas and find out its influence factors. Police officers evaluated more positively about their community-related activities. But, the citizens rated them rather negatively and the level of satisfaction was below the average. All the groups who were subjects of this study pointed out the importance of police resources as influencing the level of satisfaction about community policing implemented in their areas.The reasons of these findings were discussed and some policy suggestions as to improvement of current community policing were offered.

본 연구에서는 지역사회경찰활동에 대한 경찰과 주민(공무원, 지역주민, 경찰전공 학생)의 인식차이를 조사하고, 지역사회경찰활동의 만족도를 증진시키기 위한 영향요인은 무엇인지를 규명하고자 하였다. 지역사회경찰활동에 대한 평가에서는 경찰에 비해 지역주민들의 만족도가 낮았으며 특히 경찰활동과 관련하여 보다 이상적일 수 있는 경찰전공 학생들의 평가가 가장 저조하게 나타났다. 또한 지역사회경찰활동의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 모든 집단에서 경찰규모의 중요성이 강조되었다. 이러한 분석 결과에 대한 논의와 함께 성공적인 지역사회경찰활동을 위한 정책적 시사점도 함께 제시하였다.
