The purpose of this paper is to analyze the social and cultural contents of 2007 revised social studies curriculum in high school. The analysis are focused on the two questions how much the curriculum and textbooks reflect the social change after the 1990's later and critical theories. According to the result of content analysis, the social change after the 1990's later was reflected partially in the curriculum and textbooks. And critical theories was scarcely reflected. In the case of division by the sections of the curriculum and textbooks, the social change after 1990's later was reflected in the explanation of disbureaucratization appearance and the change of family pattern in the textbooks. The concepts of sex discrimination and social minority were newly reflected in the social and cultural contents of revised curriculum. But critical theories were partially reflected in the contents of one textbook and critical theories was scarcely reflected in the revised curriculum.

본 연구는 새로이 개정된 교육과정의 고등학교 사회문화 교육내용이 어떻게 구성되어 있는가를 다음의 두 가지 점에 초점을 두고 분석하고자 한다. 하나는 개정 교육과정의 교육내용이 90년대 후반 이후의 사회변동을 반영하고 있는가? 다른 하나는 교육내용이 비판이론의 내용을 반영하고 있는가? 교육내용의 내용분석을 위해 사회변동과 비판이론의 분석틀을 마련하였고, 내용분석의 자료는 개정 교육과정의 교육내용과 관련 자료들이다. 분석결과, 90년대 후반 이후 사회변동은 개정 교육과정과 현행 교과서에 부분적으로 반영되고 있으며, 개정 교육과정에 비판이론의 반영의 정도는 매우 낮은 편이다. 영역별로 보면, 사회조직에서 탈 관료제 현상과 가족제도에서 가족형태의 변화에 대한 내용은 현행 교과서에 반영되어 있으며, 성불평등과 사회적 소수자에 대한 내용은 개정 교육과정에 새로이 반영되었다. 그러나 비판이론의 내용은 일부 교과서의 내용에서 극히 부분적으로 반영되어 있고, 개정 교육과정에 비판이론의 내용들은 이론적 관점의 수준에서만 부분적으로 다루어진다.
