본 연구는 바흐친의 카니발 이론을 적용하여 미군 marching cadence의 가사에 나타난 카니발적 특성을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 통해 marching cadence가 미군 병영 문화 속에서 장병들이 겪는 고충과 억압된 욕망을 유머와 풍자를 통해 표출하며, 심리적 해방을 돕는다는 점을 밝히고자 한다. 또한, marching cadence가 장병들 간의 사회적 연대와 공동체 의식을 고취하여 소속감을 강화하고 전우애를 증진시키는 역할을 한다는 점도 논의하고자 한다. 특히, 미군 marching cadence는 장병들의 실제 정서와 욕구를 반영하며 자발적인 가창을 유도한다는 점에서, 대한민국 군가 활성화에 중요한 시사점을 제공할 것이다.
This study aims to analyze the carnivalesque characteristics embedded in the lyrics of U.S. military marching cadences by applying Bakhtin's theory of carnival. It highlights how these cadences allow soldiers to express their hardships and repressed desires through humor and satire, thereby facilitating psychological liberation. Additionally, the study examines how marching cadences foster social cohesion and a sense of community among soldiers, ultimately strengthening their sense of belonging and camaraderie. In particular, U.S. military marching cadences reflect the genuine emotions and needs of soldiers, encouraging voluntary participation in singing. These findings offer significant implications for revitalizing military songs within the Republic of Korea.
