Globalization and the increasing complexity of societal challenges have underscored theexpanding role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in addressing social issues. Despite thegrowing interest in CSR, there remains a lack of understanding regarding the full scope andrange of firms' stakeholders. Utilizing Scott's three-pillars framework and institutional theory, wedefine firms' stakeholders and categorize CSR (corporate citizenship) activities accordingly. Byanalyzing POSCO's sustainability report, we explore how the company has engaged in CSR tomeet the evolving needs of its stakeholders over the past 20 years. By exploring thesedimensions, we highlight how the company's approach to CSR has evolved to address thechanging expectations and requirements of its diverse stakeholder groups. Our analysis confirmsthat activities within the regulatory, normative, and cognitive pillars find balance as the companyglobalizes and takes on greater social responsibilities. This comprehensive approach to CSRprovides valuable insights for navigating modern stakeholder expectations and embracingtechnological innovation.
