Recent advances in AI and digital technologies have made personalized education more feasible. In this study, we surveyed 226 primary and secondary school teachers about their experiences and perceptions of using AI and digital tools, the teaching and learning functions they expect from AI textbooks, and the preparations they need to make before adopting AI textbooks. Teachers in this study generally had positive perceptions of AI and digital tools and had experience using a variety of AI and digital tools. Teachers used various AI and digital tools in both teaching and learning activities, and were positive that upcoming AI digital textbooks will support personalized learning. The study provided considerations for the development of AI digital textbooks and teacher training in AI and digital education skills.
