아감벤과 레비나스는 권력 관계의 본질에 천착함으로써 새로운 실천을 위한 사유적 기반을 제공하기도 하지만 현실 적용 가능성과 관련해 한계를 지적 받기 도 한다. 하지만 이들의 논의는 오늘날 권력이 거대한 폭력이 아닌 미시적 형태 로 개인의 자유에 대한 억압과 통제 기제로서 작동하고 있는 상황에서 개인의 일 상에서 적용할 수 있는 저항 전략을 제시해준다. 본 연구는 아감벤과 레비나스의 이론적 개념을 주거 빈민의 신산한 삶을 그린 영화에 적용해 구체적 실천 양상을 발견해보고자 했다. 이를 위해 난민과 수용소의 현실적 조건을 드러내는 영화 <플로리다 프로젝 트>의 인물과 서사를 분석하고, 영화 속 인물들이 처한 현실이 아감벤과 레비나 스의 무위와 향유 개념과 어떻게 연결될 수 있는지를 살펴보았다. 임시 주거지가 되어버린 모텔에 살고 있는 사람들이 보여주는 경계의 삶은 오 늘날의 난민이 어떻게 규정되는지를 드러낸다. 자본주의 체계에서 난민은 국적이 아니라 효율적 노동 가능성을 조건짓는 다양한 상황에서 발생한다. 영화 속 인물 들은 자본주의 국가가 인정하는 정상 노동이 가능한 상태를 벗어나 있는 존재로 서 정상 국민의 경계를 사유하게 한다. 이들은 자본주의 권력이 규정한 예외적 존재들이지만, 권력 관계를 내재화 해 이에 수동적으로 순응하기 보다는 일상의 생활에서 무위와 향유를 실천함으로써 권력 메커니즘에 균열을 내고 국가와 시 민 관계에 전면적 변화를 만들어 가고 있다. 본 연구는 새로운 정치에 대한 이론 적 기반을 제시해주고 있는 아감벤과 레비나스의 개념들을 영화 속 인물이 처한 현실에 적용해 해석함으로써 현실의 삶에서 구체적으로 적용될 수 있는 가능성 을 살펴 보았다는데 의의가 있다.
This study assumes that the theories of Agamben and Levinas present practical strategies in everyday life to confront the domination of power by scrutinizing the mechanism of modern political power which coerce people to conform to the social system wihout criticism. Also the research attempted to demonstrate how the concepts of Agamben’s inactivity and Levinas' jouissance can be implemented in real society focusing on the movie <Florida Project>. The film deals with the issue of residential refugees staying in a cheap motel near Disneyland in the United States. The motel represents an exceptional space following the Agamben’s definition of the camp, where residents can be defined as a refugee who lives in a state of exception. The movie reveals the nature of the power relationship between the state and citizens today and urges audiences to rethink the mechanism. Agamben and Levinas provide a rationale for new practices by delving into the essence of power relations, but criticism has been raised that their applicability to reality is bound to be limited. However, their discussion suggests strategies for resistance which can be applied in daily life at the individual level considering today’s power operates as a mechanism of oppression and control over individual freedom in a microscopic form rather than through massive violence. The motel in the film is a modern-day detention center, and residents are forced to stay in the motel. It is because they cannot work as they don’t have the appropriate capabilities for work. It reveals new aspects of refugees in modern society. These are exceptional beings excluded from modern society, howerver they neither passively comply with power nor internalize the operating principles of capitalist power. They just practice inaction and enjoyment in their daily lives, thereby cracking the mechanisms of modern capitalism and causing a comprehensive change in the relationship between the state and citizens.
