이 글은 朴基順이 제2차 일본관광단(1910.04.20.∼05.10)에 참여한 후 일본 관광의 경험을 기록한 관광약기에 대해 고찰한 것이다. 일본관광단은 統監府의 기관지인 京城日報가 주관하여 조직하였는데, 관광단의 목적은 조선인으로 하여금 일본의 발전상을 직접 목도케 하여 조선이 일본에 맞서는 것은 불가능하다고 느끼게 하고, 일본에 대한 우호적인 생각을 가지게 하는 것이었다. 박기순은 全州에서 미곡상을 운영하여 큰 부를 축적하였는데, 자신과 아들 朴榮喆의 친일 행위는 부의 축적 과정에서 중요하게 작용하였다. 박기순이 일본관광단에 참여할 수 있었던 데에는 이러한 배경이 있었던 것이다. 관광약기는 序와 緖言, 단원 명단, 감사의 글, 관관단 일정, 공진회 및 福岡縣·名古屋 관련 기록, 枝光鐵工場·해군공창·조폐국 관람 기록, 결론 및 소감 등 7부분으로 구성되어 있다. 박기순이 관광약기를 출판한 데에는 자신의 사회적 명망을 높이려는 목적이 있었다. 박기순은 자신이 처한 시대를 金力이 지배하는 시대로 인식하고, 이때 가장 필요한 것은 實業과 實業家라고 역설하였다. 그리고 조선이 발전하지 못한 것은 일본과 달리 실업을 천시했기 때문이라면서 조선과 조선의 지배층을 부정적으로 평가하였다. 그는 실업가를 새로운 시대를 이끌어갈 주역으로 규정하고, 자신이 이룩한 부의 축적은 단순히 개인적인 차원이 아닌 시대적 소명에 부응한 당연한 결과로 생각했다. 그에게 있어서 일본은 문명의 모범일 뿐만 아니라 자신이 이룩한 부의 축적이 정당한 것임을 증명하는 존재였다. 박기순의 친일 행위는 이런 맥락에서 이루어진 것이었다.
This paper examines Gwangwangyakigi written after Bak, Gi Sun's trip (1910.04.20.∼05.20) to Japan. Japan sought various methods to justify the colonization of Korea. One of them was organizing a tour group to Japan, and this work was carried out by Gyeongseongilbo (京城日報), the official organ of the Japanese Residency-General of Korea (朝鮮統監府). Bak amassed considerable wealth through his rice business in Jeonjui(全州). His and his son's pro-Japanese activities played a significant role in this accumulation. The book Gwangwangyakigi consists of seven sections: introduction, tour group list, acknowledgments, tour group schedule, information related to the competitive exhibition, records of visits to Fukuoka and Nagoya, Edamitsu steel works, naval ordnance factory, Japanese mint, conclusion, and impressions. The purpose of publishing this book was to enhance his social reputation. Bak viewed that era as one dominated by capital, emphasizing the importance of industries and business. He held a negative view of Joseon and its ruling class, as they looked down on industries and business, resulting in the decline of Joseon. Not only did Bak consider Japan the epitome of civilization, but he also saw it as a validation of his own success. His pro-Japanese activities were rooted in this mindset.
