본 연구는 교환학생 학습자의 특성에 맞는 한국어 수업 구성을 위해 주요한 학습 동기 요인을 추출하고 한국어 수업에 대한 요구를 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 국내 대학의 교환학생 한국어 학습자 107명을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였다. 한국어 학습 동기의 주요 요인으로는 내재적 동기와 필수적 동기가 추출되었으며 한국어 수업과 관련하여서는 말하기, 어휘, 듣기 순으로 요구도가 높게 나타났다. 동기의 하위 요인별로 분석한 결과 도구적 동기는 학습자의 출신 지역, 학습 기간, 한국어 숙달도(TOPIK)와 한국어 수업 유무에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 요구도에서는 지역과 한국어 학습 기간에 따라 한국어 수업의 필요성에 유의미한 차이가 있었으며 수업 내용과 관련하여서는 문법과 듣기 학습에서 학습 기간에 따른 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 교환학생 한국어 학습자 집단의 동기를 알아볼 수 있었으며 학습 동기를 지속하기 위한 요구도를 살펴볼 수 있다는 데 의의가 있다.
This study analyzes the motivations and needs for Korean language learning among 107 exchange students at Korean universities. Intrinsic and extrinsic motivations were identified as the main factors driving the desire to learn Korean, with a high demand for classes focusing on speaking, vocabulary, and listening, in that order. Instrumental motivation varied significantly with students’ origin, study duration, Korean proficiency(TOPIK), and attendance. Need varied significantly by region and learning duration, notably in grammar and listening based on study length. These findings highlight the need to understand students’ motivations and class demands to maintain their learning interest.
