대학 수업에서 철학적 작문교육이 왜 필요할까. 그리고 철학교사는 그것을 학생들에게 어떻게 가르쳐야 할까. 이러한 물음들에 답하기 위해선 먼저 철학 자체의 성격 규정이 중요하다. 즉 철학은 어떤 학문인가. 여기에 덧붙여 철학을 공부할 때 글쓰기가 최적화된 실천 작업임을 논증해야 한다. 즉 철학에서 글쓰기가 왜 중요한가이다. 그랬을 때 철학교사는 학생들에게 철학적 글쓰기가 어떤 공부인지를 정확히 전달할 수 있다. 그렇다고 본고는 인류 지성사 전체를 훑는 방대한 작업을 목표로 하진 않는다. 오히려 철학에 대한 가르침과 교육법을 분명히 함으로써 학생들이 철학 활동과 언어 활동을 효과적으로 즐길 수 있는 방법을 모색한다. 그래서 학생 자체가 저 방대한 철학적 작업에 스스로 뛰어들기를 바란다. 이런 까닭에서 논자는 철학의 학문적 즐거움을 일반적인 철학 주체들에게 알려줄 효율적인 교육 방식을 연구하고자 한다. 그러면 우리는 대학 수업에서 철학적 작문교육을 구체적으로 기획할 수 있을 것이다. 이와 같은 취지에서 본고는 일반적인 인문교양교과에서 ‘철학적’이라는 말을 어떻게 정의하면 좋을지 탐구함으로써 철학적 작문교육에 대한 근본적인 이해 방식과 연구 방법을 논한다. 특히 대학생과 일반 대중이 철학 수업에 기대하는 교육법을 알아볼 것이다. 그런 뒤 이러한 철학 수업에 적합한 ‘글쓰기’ 방법을 제안함으로써 대학에서 철학적 작문교육이 왜 필요한지를 논하겠다.
Why is philosopical writing class necessary in college education? And how should a philosophy teacher teach it to students? To answer these questions, we first need to know what the study of philosophy is. And we should know that writing is essential to philosophy. If so, philosophy teachers can accurately convey to students what kind of class philosophical writing is. However, this paper does not study the entire history of philosophy to understand the philosophy. Rather, it studies how students can effectively study philosophy and writing by exploring educational methods for philosophy. By defining ‘philosophical’ in the context of university education and exploring what students should expect from philosophical writing courses, this research proposes specific writing techniques tailored for philosophy classes. It underscores the critical importance of philosophical writing education for fostering analytical skills, critical thinking, and a profound understanding of philosophical discourse in university students.
