본고는 최근 웹소설에서 장문형 제목과 태그 중심으로 구성되는 장르화 현상의 의미와 효과를 구체화한다. 특히 모든 것이 빠르게 응답되어야 하는 숏텀-피드백 시대의 포괄적인 사회현상과 문화컨텐츠를 둘러싼 동시대적 문화 향유의 경향을 정리하고, 웹소설이 웹생태계를 중심으로 시대적 요구에 적응하는 과정을 돌아볼 수 있을 것이다. 오늘날 웹소설의 문장형 제목은 특정 장르와 텍스트의 기호적 축약을 함축할 뿐 아니라, 독자의 독서 스키마를 경험적으로 압축하고 재구성한다. 이러한 문장형 제목의 유행은 장르에 대한 기존의 관습적 이해와 전통적인 독서 모델을 넘어서 단기적으로 구성되는 ‘사전 독서’의 효과를 적극적으로 활용하고 있다. 다른 한편으로 이 연구는 웹소설이라는 플랫폼 중심으로 구성하고 웹생태계의 시스템을 통해서 조정되는 시의적인 현상을 통해서 향후 문화콘텐츠 시장에 대하여 전망한다. 숏텀-피드백 중심의 독서 스키마에 의존하는 웹소설의 장르화 현상은 전체 문화콘텐츠 시장에 있어서 상대적으로 다른 숏폼 콘텐츠에 비해 약점을 가질 수밖에 없다. 또한 우세한 유행과 태그를 중심으로 구성되는 웹소설의 텍스트의 균질화 현상이 보편화되면 대부분의 독서 효과 역시 단순화되거나 더욱 음지의 서브컬쳐 문화로 분화되어 침잠하는 경향을 보인다. 따라서 문화콘텐츠 시장의 영토에서 롱텀-피드백에 대한 요구가 발생시킬 새로운 경향을 전망하고 모색하는 작업이 다시금 중요해질 것이다.
This paper explores the meaning and effect of the phenomenon of genreization in recent web novels, which is organized around long titles and tags. In particular, it will summarize the trend of contemporary cultural enjoyment of cultural contents and social phenomena in the short-term-feedback era, where everything needs to be responded to quickly, and highlight the process of web fiction adapting to the needs of the times centered on the web ecosystem. Today, sentential titles of web novels not only serve as symbolic abbreviations of specific genres and texts, but also empirically compress and reorganize readers' reading schemas. This prevalence of sentential titles goes beyond conventional understandings of genre and traditional reading models, actively leveraging the ‘pre-reading’ effects facilitated by short-term feedback mechanisms. Furthermore, this study forecasts the future of the cultural content market through the temporal phenomenon of web fiction, which is integrated into the web ecosystem. The genreization phenomenon of web novels, which relies on a short-term feedback-oriented reading schema, is relatively weak compared to other short-form contents in the overall cultural content market. In addition, when the homogenization phenomenon of web novel texts organized around dominant trends and tags becomes common, most of the reading effects tend to be simplified or become entrenched in niche subcultures with potentially negative connotations. Therefore, it is crucial to forecast and explore new trends that will generate the demand for long-term feedback in the cultural content market.
