This study investigates the morphological features of step-pools in mountain streams located in Gangneung-si, South Korea. Using UAV-based aerial photographs, we generated a digital surface model of the study area to calculate the geometry of step-pools and conducted a correlation analysis. Comparisons with previous studies are also made to analyze unique characteristics. A total of 62 step-pools are identified within a 1.6 km channel reach, with an average distribution of 5.7 features per 100 meters. Boulder steps number 39, while bedrock steps are 23. Previous studies suggest a strong correlation between channel width and step wavelength, and step wavelength and its height, but their relationship is low in this study area. It is likely due to a higher proportion of bedrock steps, as well as a large basin area and river size in Yongyeon Valley. However, relatively strong correlations are observed between step spacing and pool length, drop height and slope, and pool width and length.
