본고는 고전소설과 지역성의 관계에 있ᅌᅥ서 작가, 시기, 소설 성향, 소설 인식, 문체 등 작품 내외를 둘러싼 틈새의 가능성을 살펴보는 일종의 시론적 성격의 글이다. 먼저, 작가, 시기를 비롯한 소설의 성향 변화와 지역성의 관계를 중심으로 살펴보면 17세기를 기점으로 소설사의 전환이 전면화되면서 현실주의적 성향이 강화되는 양상은 소설이 낭만적이고 환상적인 비현실적 국면에서 시공간을 현실적으로 전유하는 국면으로 변화되고 있음을 보여준다. 이점은 17세기 이후 소설에서 발현되는 지역성의 요소들은 소설사의 변화와 연관된 측면으로, 이때 지역은 작품 속에 설정된 공간이라는 점과 함께 사건이 실재하거나 그럴 가능성을 현실적으로 담지한 공간으로써의 의미까지 포괄하고 있다는 점에서 주목된다. 둘째, 소설 문체와 지역 경향성의 관계를 살펴보면 한문소설은 전기계, 전계, 야담계로 구분되는데 전기계처럼 전통 문예물의 방식으로 형성된 소설이냐 아니면 전계나 야담계처럼 한문 문체 양식으로서 전에서 발전되거나 필기 잡록 계열에서 소설적 성향이 가미된 형태로 변화된 것이냐에 따라 다른 점이 노정된다. 특히 전기계, 야담계와 달리 전계 소설은 경향 각지에서 다양한 작가들에 의해 창작되나, 지역적 성향에 따라 전계 소설의 지향이 결을 달리하는 게 발견된다. 즉 전계 소설의 경우 근기 지역에 기반한 작가의 작품들이 개인, 일상, 여성, 주체 등 이른바 미시적인 것에 초점을 둔 반면, 지역에 기반한 작가의 작품들은 담론, 사건, 희작 등 공동체와 거시적 담론 중심의 주제로 집중되는 경향성이 간취되는 게 그것이다. 고전소설과 지역성의 문제는 배경으로써의 지역을 벗어나 지역성에 견인된 작품으로 표출되는 양상을 통해서 그 실체에 가까워질 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 그러기 위해서는 새로운 자료 발굴이 필수적으로 요청되며, 동시에 문체를 비롯한 글쓰기 측면에서 지역성과의 관계를 보다 깊이 있게 논의할 필요가 있다. 이에 대한 연구를 추후 과제로 삼고자 한다.
This paper is a kind of preliminary discussion that examines the possibility of gaps surrounding the work, such as writers, periods, novel tendencies, novel recognition, and style, in the relationship between classical novels and locality. First of all, focusing on the relationship between the writer and the period and locality of the novel, the transformation of the novel history began in the 17th century, and the reinforcement of the realist tendency shows that the novel is changing from a romantic and fantastic unrealistic phase to a phase that realistically appropriates time and space. Second, if you look at the relationship between novel style and regional tendency, Korean novels in classical Chinese are divided into Jeon, Jeongi and Yadam, which differ depending on whether they are novels formed in the way of traditional literature like Jeongi or whether they have been developed in the jeon as a Chinese style like Jeon and yadam or changed from a series of Filgi works to a form with novel tendencies. In particular, unlike Jeongi and Yadam, Jeon novels are created by various writers in various parts of the trend, but it is found that the orientation of Jeon novels varies depending on regional tendencies. In other words, in the case of Jeon novels, writers’ works based on the recent region focus on so-called microscopic things such as individuals, everyday lives, women, and subjects, while works based on regions tend to focus on community and macro discourse-oriented topics such as discourse, events, and miscellaneous works. The problem of classical novels and locality is expected to be able to get closer to its substance through the aspect of being expressed as a work driven by locality beyond the region as a background. To do this, it is essential to discover new materials, and at the same time, it is necessary to discuss the relationship with locality in more depth in terms of writing, including style. I would like to make research on this a future task.
