디지털 시대로의 격변 속에서도 아직도 우리의 고전시가는 어두운 장막속에 가려진 채 여전히 중세 시대에 머물러 있는 느낌이다. 다소 비관적이고 부정적일 수 있는 이 같은 견해는 고전시가를 공부하고 애정하는 연구자로서 시조문학을 어떻게든 보다 현재적으로 가치 있게 창출할 수 있는 방안에 대해 모색하고 고민하는 문제의식으로 연결된다. 그간 수많은 영화나드라마, 웹툰의 모티프로 재맥락화된 고전서사는 이미 어느 정도 일상화･대중화되었다고 할 수 있을 것이다. 이 같은 견지에서 고전시가의 현대화 방안에 대한 해명이 필요한 시점이라고 할 수 있겠다. 따라서 본 논의는 그러한 회의와 반성에서 출발한 제언적 성격의 글임을 밝혀둔다. 범박하게 말하자면 우리의 시조창 역시 현대의 가요로 재해석 한다든지 무려 3,000여 수가 넘는 시조작품 속에 담긴 노래의 가사들은 얼마든지 다양한 콘텐츠의모티프나 화소로 확장될 수 있는 것이다. 시조의 노랫말에 담긴 내용은 영혼 없는 시어의 나열이 아닌 인간의 삶 자체인 희노애락이 고스란히 반영되어 있기 때문이다. 특히 시조 가운데서도 사설시조 내용의 다양성과 파격은스낵컬처로서의 확장가능성을 더욱 크게 열어놓았다고 할 수 있다. 사설시조는 엄연히 시조장르이지만 평시조와는 다르게 형식적인 길이나 내용적측면에서 독자성을 지닌다. 특히 다양한 주제는 근대적 패러다임으로 드러나는데 이는 오늘날 현대적 시류에서 다루어도 매우 친숙하다. 따라서 본연구는 고전시가 중 사설시조를 대상으로 스낵컬처로서 이에 걸맞은 현대적 변용과 활용 방식에 대해 살펴보고 사설시조만이 지닌 독자적 특질들로인해 코믹툰, 일상툰, 단막극 형식의 에피소드, 옴니버스식의 구성으로 가능성을 살펴보았다. 특히 이야기 자체보다 감성을 중시하고 있는 요즈음 감성세대들에게 애정시조 작품들은 훨씬 더 감각적으로 전달될 수 있다. 시조가지니는 이러한 감수성의 특질은 그림과 함께 어우러지면서 웹툰이 지니는강점과 시조의 맛을 한데 아우를 수 있다. 전반적으로 시조가 지니는 미적특질은 애정시나 이별시에서 보이는 애절함이나 애틋한 정서 외에도 사설시조에서 보이는 거칠음, 퇴폐적, 솔직함 등의 정서 역시 현대의 정서와는더 잘 부합할 수 있다고 생각하며 오늘의 소비자들에게도 문화적 공감대를형성하기에 충분하다고 여겨진다.

Even amidst the upheaval of the digital age, it still feels like our classicalpoetry is still stuck in the Middle Ages, shrouded in a dark veil. This view,which may be somewhat pessimistic and negative, leads to the critical awarenessthat, as a researcher who studies and loves classical poetry, I seek and worryabout ways to somehow create more contemporary value for Sijo literature. It can be said that the classical narratives that have been recontextualizedas motifs in numerous movies, dramas, and webtoons have already becomeroutine and popular to some extent. From this perspective, it can be saidthat it is time to explain the modernization plan for classical poetry. Therefore, we state that this discussion is of a suggestive nature, originatingfrom such skepticism and reflection. To put it broadly, our sijo songs can also be reinterpreted as modern pop songs, and the lyrics of songs containedin more than 3,000 sijo works can be expanded into motifs or pixels of variouscontents. This is because the content contained in the lyrics of Sijo is nota list of soulless poetic words, but rather reflects the joys, sorrows and sorrowsof human life itself. In particular, it can be said that the diversity andunconventionality of the content of saseol sijo, even among sijo, has openedup greater possibilities for expansion as a snack culture. Saseol sijo is definitelya genre of sijo, but unlike pyeongsijo, it has its own uniqueness in termsof formal length and content. In particular, various topics are revealed ina modern paradigm, which is very familiar even in today's modern era. Therefore,this study examined the modern transformation and utilization of saseol sijo,one of the classical poems, as a snack culture. Due to the unique characteristics of saseol sijo, we looked into the possibilitiesof comic toons, daily toons, one-act episodes, and omnibus-type compositions. In particular, works of love sijo can be conveyed in a much more sensuousway to today's emotional generation, who value emotion more than the storyitself. This characteristic of sijo's sensitivity can be combined with the pictureto combine the strengths of webtoons and the taste of sijo. In general, I thinkthat the aesthetic qualities of sijo, in addition to the sadness and sorrowfulemotions shown in love poems and farewell poems, and the emotions suchas roughness, decadence, and honesty shown in saseol sijo, can better matchmodern emotions, and are also suitable for today's consumers. It is consideredsufficient to form cultural consensus.
