이 논문은 해방공간 대전 충남 지역에서 일간지로 발행된 『忠淸每日』 소재 문예란에 게재된 문학 작품을 대상으로 하여 해방공간 지역 문학사 서술의 구도와 시각을 실제 작품 분석을 통해 모색한다. 그동안 해방공간 지역 문학사 서술은 ‘지역’ 문학으로서의 독자성과 지역 문학의 성립 가능성을 중심으로 하여 문학사 서술의 구도와 시각을 설정하고 있었다. 최근에는 지역 문학사 서술의 구도와 시각을 더 확장하여 세계 문학의 범주에서 지역 문학의 위상을 탐색하는 연구까지 제출된 상황이다. 그러나 이와 같은 성과에도 불구하고 새로운 문학 텍스트의 발굴과 이에 기반한 새로운 해석 행위의 의미 있는 결과들이 더 이어지지 않아서 지역 문학사 서술의 편면성에서 벗어나지 못한 한계 역시 분명하게 노정되어 있던 것도 부인할 수 없는 사실이었다. 이에 본고에서는 해방공간 대전 충남 지역의 가장 유력한 지역 매체 중의 하나인 『忠淸每日』에 게재된 문예물을 발굴하여 그 문학적 함의를 탐구했다. 그 결과 기존의 이 시기 대전 충남 지역의 문학사를 ‘순수’주의로 편면화하여 서술한 기존의 방식이 갖고 있는 한계를 인식할 수 있었다. 무엇보다도 『忠淸每日』 소재 게재 시편들은 ‘순수’주의의 미적 특성을 보이는 작품은 거의 찾아볼 수 없고, 이 시기의 ‘민중’의 열악한 삶의 ‘현실’을 냉철한 시선을 통해 견인해 내고 있었음을 알 수 있었다. 이를 통해 기존의 ‘순수’주의와 대타적 관계에 있는 ‘현실’주의 시론을 해방공간 대전 충남 지역 문학의 ‘지역적’ 독자성의 한 축으로 입론할 수 있는 가능성을 찾아내었다. 이와 함께 『忠淸每日』 소재 소설에 대한 탐색을 통해서 ‘새로운 조선 문학’ 건설과 관련하여 매우 중요한 입론의 하나였던 ‘귀환’과 ‘자기비판’ 서사 유형에 육박한 작품들이 수록되어 있었음을 확인할 수 있었다.
This paper explores the composition and view of the description of local literature history in liberation space for literary works included in 『Chungcheong Daily』 published as a daily newspaper in Daejeon and Chungnam region. Until now, the description of local literature history in liberation space has set the composition and vision of literary history descriptions focusing on their uniqueness as local literature and the possibility of establishing local literature. Recently, research has been submitted to further expand the composition and vision of local literary history descriptions and explore the status of local literature in the category of world literature. However, despite these achievements, meaningful results from the discovery of new literary texts and new interpretations based on them no longer continued, and the limitations of local literary history descriptions were clearly revealed. In this paper discovered literary works contained in 『Chungcheong Daily』, and explored their literary implications. As a result, we found the problem of interpreting the history of literature in Daejeon and Chungnam region as purism at this period. On the other hand, it was confirmed that works close to the type of return and self-criticism narrative, which were very important points of view regarding the construction of new Joseon literature, were included. Through such research, we have found the possibility of establishing the theory of realist literature, which is opposed to existing purism, as a liberation space and an axis of regional uniqueness in Daejeon and Chungnam.
