본 연구는 『청맥』의 소설에 관한 최초의 본격적인 연구이다. 소설은 모두 37편으로서, 50-60년대 사회에 만연한 (국가)폭력 및 사회비리, 부패에 대해 본격적으로 해부·고발한다. (국가)폭력에 대한 ‘질적 변환’ 및 ‘양적 증가’를 보여주었으며, 당시 아시아·아프리카 리저널리즘의 한계로 지적되던 ‘민주와 괴리된 독재’ ‘새로운 민족주의로서의 독재’를 비판하면서 제3방안을 도출하고자 하였다. 50-60년대 극우반공체제의 확립과정과 국가폭력 형성의 호몰로지를 보여주면서 민족적 리얼리즘의 성취를 확인시키고 있었으며, 문학비평과의 정합성도확인되었다. 특히 국가폭력에 저항하는 새로운 시(국)민성이 ‘여성성’을 통해 담보되는 특징을 보이지만, 아직 ‘새 사회 원리’ ‘노동’ 등은 남성성에 기반하는 등착종된 젠더의식을 드러냈다. 자유·평등이 보장되는 민주주의 사회, 국가폭력이 아닌 법치, 인류애라는 조국애, 물화가 아닌 자본주의 등이 『청맥』의 소설이 피력하는 바, 아시아 리저널리즘 제5계보의 소설적 형상화에서 요청된 전망의 내포이다. 이것이 제5계보의차별성이자 특징이었다. 하지만 아직 민족주의의 폭력성을 용인하고 반공 냉전으로 육화된 ‘보복하는 여성’을 제시하는 등 진정한 탈식민적 성찰로는 한계를보였다. 이상에서 살펴본 바, 『청맥』의 소설로 인해 60년대 소설사는 다시 씌여져야 한다. 이미 『창작과 비평』의 업적으로 평가된 민족주의론, 리얼리즘론을 선취하고 있었다.
This study is the first full-scale study on the short stories of Chong-Mag. The position of Chong-Mag is classified as the 5th genealogy of ‘Asian regionalism’. The Method of Chong-Mag was the ‘third plan’. The 5th genealogy combines anti-imperialism, anti-colonialism and the theory of ‘development as freedom’. There are 37 short stories in total. The short stories of Chong-Mag accuse state violence prevalent in this society in the 50s and 60s. It begins to criticize it in earnest, presenting a qualitative transformation and quantitative increase in (state) violence that was not seen in previous short stories. In the short stories of Chong-Mag, the gender of modernity is the people-women as subjects of accusation, exposure, and resistance. It qualitatively differs from the previous short stories and novels. Also, it shows the characteristic of not setting the ‘gender of modernization’ as masculinity. This was a ‘reversed’ method different from the usual male subject calls. Due to the short stories of Chong-Mag, the history of short stories in the 60s must be rewritten.
