정서경 작가는 대부분의 작품을 박찬욱 감독과 공동 창작하며 시나리오 작가로서 명성을 쌓아 왔다. 최근 정서경 작가는 텔레비전 드라마 <작은 아씨들> 에서도 영화에서 보였던 작가적 특징을 선명히 드러내고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, <작은 아씨들>은 여전히 텔레비전 드라마로 인식된다. 그 이유에 대한해명은 영화적 스타일이 텔레비전드라마를 주도하고있는 현재, 무엇이 텔레비전 드라마의 근본 속성인가를 밝히는 일이 될 것이다. 텔레비전 드라마는 현실세계의 재현 형식이며 일상적 시간의 세계를 그린다. 텔레비전 드라마에서 등장 인물에게 요구되는 것이무엇보다 일련의 기억이다. 그것이 등장인물을 시청자와 같은 현실 세계의 존재로 여기게끔 해 주며, 인물들이 지닌 기억과 트라우마야말로 텔레비전 드라마가 재현하는 현실적 세계에서 인물을 움직이는 진정한 원인이자 동력이 되기 때문이다. <작은 아씨들> 에서 오인주는 가난의 트라우마에 시달리며, 동생들을 지키고 부를 얻기 위해 사력을 다한다. 그것은 무력감을 극복하고 현실적 문제를 해결해 내고자 하는시청자들의 희망을 환기한다. 가장 ‘영화적’ 인물이라 볼 수 있는 원상아는 모순된 성격과 엽기적 살인 행각으로 인해 가공의 인물로 비쳐진다. 하지만사랑의 결핍과 가족에 대한 죄의식이라는 트라우마로 인해 현실 세계의 인물로서의 자질을 얻는다. 비현실적인 힘을 행사하는 난초 ‘푸른 유령’은 베트남전을 역사적 배경으로 하여 기회 박탈의 트라우마와 신분 상승의 욕망을 환기한다. 이처럼 <작은 아씨들>은 이들이 속한 상이한 세계들을 현실 세계로 포괄해 내며, ‘현실 세계의 재현’이라는 텔레비전 드라마의 근본 속성을 유지한다

It evokes viewers’ hopes to overcome helplessness and solve practical problems. Won Sang-ah, who can be seen as the most ‘film’ character, is seen as a fictitious character due to her contradictory personality and bizarre murder behavior. However, due to the vivid childhood memories and trauma of lack of love and guilt for his mother, she gains her qualities as a real-world character. The orchid ‘Blue Ghost’, which exercises unrealistic power, evokes the trauma of deprivation of opportunity and the desire to rise in status with the Vietnam War as a historical background. As such, Little Women encompasses different behavioral agentss into the realistic world through memory and trauma, and maintains the fundamental nature of the Television drama, which is the representation of the real world.
