The National Ecosystem Survey has provided a filter for the eco-friendly utilization of the national territory through the creation and updating of ecological and natural maps, especially for the protection of landforms with high conservation value and the protection of biological habitats. The geomorphological evaluating of the 4th National Ecosystem Survey was conducted from 2014 to 2018, and a total of 10,671 landforms were surveyed. during the survey, the protection level of highly natural, scarce, and impossible of reproduction landscapes was designated, but the evaluation of artificially modified or utilized landscapes was limited. On the other hand, the assessment of various landforms as biological habitats has been centered on the habitats of legally protected animal species, but the definition of habitat and the scope of legal protection have not been clearly discussed. In particular, many of the areas where agricultural activities or other anthropogenic activities are done have considerable value as feeding areas for wild animals and plants, but they have not been properly investigated. Therefore, it seems that future surveys of the geomorphology part of the National Ecosystem Survey should consider not only the value of the landform itself but also its various functions and ecosystem services.
