한국어와 일본어에서의 쉼표/読点 사용은 사용 빈도와 사용 양상에서 현저한 차이를 보인다. 한국어는 띄어쓰기를 통해 문장과 구절을 명확하게 구분하므로 쉼표의 사용 빈도가 낮은 반면, 일본어는 띄어쓰기가 없어 読点이 가독성 측면에서 중요한 역할을 한다. 또한, 한국인은 쉼표에 대한 인식과 사용 방법을 올바르게 파악하지 못하여 번역이나 글쓰기 과정에서 어려움을 겪는가 경우가 많은데, 실제로 한국 국어교육에서도 쉼표 사용에 대한 중요도가 낮다. 이로 인해 한일 번역사는 일본어의 読点을 한국어로 번역할 때와 한국어를 일본어로 번역할 때 読点처리에 대해 어려움을 겪고 있다. 이는 번역물의 품질과 독자의 이해에 영향을 미칠 수 있으므로, 이를 개선하기 위한 쉼표 사용에 대한 명확한 지침과 교육, 번역 가이드 라인이 필요하다. 본 연구는 이러한 한일 쉼표/読点 사용 차이를 조사하고 일본 작가 夏目漱石의 작품 『こころ』을 중심으로 쉼표/読点 사용 빈도와 번역 전략을 분석하여 원문의 의미를 정확하게 전달하기 위한 번역 전략을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 한국어와 일본어 간의 쉼표/読点의 사용 및 번역 패턴의 차이를 깊이 이해할 수 있으며, 번역 작업에서 이러한 요소가 번역 텍스트의 구조와 의미 전달에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대한 흥미로운 관점을 제시한다. 본 연구의 결과는 번역 연구나 번역 도구 개발과 같은 분야에서 중요한 지침을 제공할 것이며, 이를 통해 번역 품질 향상과 자연스러운 번역문 생성에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

The use of commas in Korean and Japanese demonstrates marked differences in frequency and pattern of use. This study investigates the differences in the use of commas in Korea and Japan, and analyzes the frequency of use for commas and translation strategies in relation to Japanese author Natsume Soseki's work, with the aim to present a translation strategy to accurately convey the meaning of the original text. Based on its findings, this study hopes to foster a deeper understanding toward the differences in the use of commas and translation patterns between Korean and Japanese, and how these factors affect the structure and meaning conveyance of translated texts in translation work. The results of this study are also expected to provide important guidelines in the fields of translation research and translation tool development, and thereby contribute to improving translation quality.
