Shiyannian(石延年) is admired by writers of the Northern Song Dynasty and is a person who has maintained a wide range of relationships and left excellent poetry. He had active exchanges with Liukai(劉開), Fanzhongyan(范仲淹), Ouyangxiu(歐陽修), and Shijie(石介), and was active in poetry innovation and creative activities at that time. In addition, since all other writers actively practiced the creation of various characters such as poetry, Ci(詞), and prose, it can be assumed that the Shiyannian(石延年) also shared the literary and political ideals they pursued. Nevertheless, because the Shimanqingshiji(石曼卿詩集) that he compiled himself does not exist, and other prose works have been lost, there is insufficient evidence to reveal it in more detail. However, by collection and organization scattered his poems and relying on the evaluation of other writers and the "Shimanqingshijixu(石曼卿詩集序)", it was possible to examine the generous character and temperament of Shiyannian(石延年), the creative activities of poetry based on oil prices, outstanding talent of literature, participation in the Guwenyundong(古文運動) of Northern Song Dynasty, and low government positions and early death. Promising and influential literary figures and scholars of the time all admired him in their hearts and recorded and evaluated him in many sentences, providing ample reason to focus on the study of Shiyannian(石延年) and his works. In addition, through "Shimanqingshijixu(石曼卿詩集序)", it was possible to examine the fact that the political utility value of Confucianism was set as the original purpose of literature, the qualitative change and development of "Xuwen(序文)" as a Chinese classical prose style, and the author's perception of literature expressed in the author's Xuwen(序文). In other words, the value of "Shimanqingshijixu(石曼卿詩集序)" can be understood on the same line as the literary perception of Shiyannian(石延年) just by the fact that Shijie(石介) wrote a Xuwen(序文) at the same time as his own literary perception.
