The objective of this study is to clarify that ‘I/Ga’, which cannot be regarded as case marker, can be considered as an auxiliary particle in terms of ‘contrastive focus markers’. For this purpose, I analyzed ‘I/Ga’ using information sturcure, particularly ‘focus’. I first identified characteristics of case marker ‘I/Ga’ as a focus marker. As a result, it was examined that the case marker displays new informationas as semantic focus marker. However, not all ‘I/Ga’ in actual use was related to new information. Through this perspective, it was confirmed that ‘I/Ga’ in this case performed the function of the contrastive focus marker. In conclusion, through this analysis, it was confirmed that ‘I/Ga’ can be recognized as an auxiliary particle and handled within the same category as other auxiliary particle. This is because an auxiliary particle can generally function as a contrastive focus marker. This study is significant in that it is a complementary study of ‘I/Ga’ as a focus marker.
