Kevin J. Vanhoozer provides a Christian alternative against postmodern uncertainty and Jacques Derrida’s deconstructionism. In this discussion, he affirms the Bible and the Word of God as the norms of Christian faith. Vanhoozer argues that God’s communication is possible through Speech-Act Theory, that the Bible is God’s final revelation, and that Christians participate in “theo-drama.” Vanhoozer focuses on God communicating. For him, God is the archetypal communicator who exists forever in the Trinity dialogue and is at the same time the basis of communication. Therefore, the Bible is God’s central communication and revelation. And God’s creation is called to respond to this communication. Humans interpret sacred texts. All inter- pretations are guided by the intent of the canon and the work of the Holy Spirit in every believer. Through this, Christians par- ticipate in communication with the Trinity God and perform the drama of salvation.
