본 연구는 『고지키』서문에 보이는 서술목적, 「제(諸)가문이 가지고 있는 제기(帝紀)와 본사(本辞)는 이미 사실과 다르고, 허위를 많이 덧붙이고 있는데, 제기와 본사는 국가 조직의 근본이 되고 것이고, 천황 정치의 기초가 되는 것이다. 그 때문에 제기와 구사(旧辞=본사)를 잘 조사해서 바르게 고치고, 허위를 없애, 진실을 선록해서 후세에 전하려한다」에 착안하여, 『고지키』가 어찌 보면 서로 다른 목적을 가지고 있는 이야기들을 엮어, 하나의 통일된 이야기로 완성된 것에 주목하였다. 잘 알려져 있는 대로 일본 최초의 통일정권은 야마토(大和) 조정이다. 야마토 정권은 강대한 호족들의 집합체였고, 그들은 오키미(大君)를 수장으로 하는 연합정권이었다. 이후 야마토 정권은 율령제를 흡수해 가며, 오키미에서 천황(天皇)으로 명칭을 바꾸고, 점차 천황에 의한 중앙집권적 국가형태로 바뀌어 간다. 이 때 세력이 큰 호족들은 율령제 속에서 성씨를 부여받으며 중앙귀족으로 흡수되어 간다. 즉 이러한 가문들이 가진다양한 이야기들을 취사선택하여 기록한 것이 『고지키』라는 것이다. 여러 곳에서 내용을 발췌함으로서『고지키』의 내용은 풍부해졌겠지만, 중요한 것은 다양한 이야기들 사이의 유기적 연결이다. 『고지키』의목적은 천황 지배의 정당성이고, 이 정당성은 황조신인 아마테라스에서부터 피로 이어지는 혈통의 정통성에의해서 완성된다. 목적을 가지고 서술되어 의도된 결과를 도출하기 위해서는 『고지키』가 하나의 통일된 이야기로 서술되었을 때 가능해진다. 이러한 작업은 단순히 각각의 이야기들을 순서대로 이어 가는 걸로는 불가능하므로, 이야기의 유기적 연결을 위해, 『고지키』의 편찬자는 상권 전체를 관통하는 체계, 즉 구조적 논리를 만들어 이야기를 다소 가공했을 것이라고 추론할 수 있다. 따라서 이러한 구조적 논리를 찾아냄으로서어떤 부분이 가공된 이야기인지 확인할 수 있을 것이고, 이는『고지키』를 이해하는 중요한 단서가 될 것이라고 생각한다. 그리고 그 단서는 상권의 서두에서 찾을 수 있을 것으로 추측한다. 왜냐하면 이야기의 시작부분에서 구조적 논리의 체계가 시작되어야 전체 내용의 그에 맞춰 통일성을 유지할 수 있기 때문이다. 그렇게 찾아낸 단서는 바로 「떠다니는 구니를 修理」해야 하는 최초로 위임받은 과업이었다. 『고지키』는 「떠다니는 구니를 修理․固成」하는 임무를 통해 서술 목적에 맞는 방향을 잡았고, 이는 곧 이후『고지키』의 논리에 핵심이 될 것이다. 따라서 이후 「떠다니는 구니를 修理․固成」하는 과업을 위임받은두 명의 신, 이자나키노미코토와 이자나미노미코토가 위임받은 과업을 실행해 가는 과정에서 「구니 修理․ 固成」 요소를 활용하여 유기적 연결을 시도할 것이라고 판단할 수 있다. 그러므로 구니 「修理․固成」가어떻게 서술되는지 살펴본다면 『고지키』상권의 논리 역시 알 수 있을 것이라 생각했기 때문이다. 『고지키』서두에서 제시한 「구니 修理」 과정을 파악하기 위해 시간의 흐름대로 기술되는 서술을 따라서 각 에피소드를 살펴보고, 표기된 단어의 의미를 파악하는 연구방법으로 전체 흐름을 살펴보았다.

Excerpts from various literature may have enriched the content of "Gojiki," but what is important is the organic connection between various stories. The purpose of "Godziki" is to justify the Emperor's rule, and this legitimacy is completed by the orthodoxy of bloodline from Amaterasu, the god of imperial ancestors. In order to derive the intended result after being described with a purpose, it is possible when "Gojiki" is described as a unified story. Since this kind of work is not possible simply by continuing each story in turn, it can be inferred that the editor of "Godziki" created a system that penetrates the entire first volume, namely structural logic, to process the story. The clue found in this way was the first task commissioned to "fix a floating country." Kojiki sets a direction suitable for the purpose of description through its mission to "repair and consolidate floating countries," which will soon become the core of Kojiki's logic. Therefore, it can be judged that in the process of carrying out the task entrusted by two gods, Izanaki no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto, who have since been entrusted with the task of "repairing and consolidating floating countries," organic connection is attempted. Therefore, if you look at how the country's "repair and consolidation" is described, you will understand the logic of the first volume of "Kojiki. In order to understand the "national repair" process presented at the beginning of "Kojiki," each episode was examined according to a description written over time and the overall flow was examined by a research method that identified the meaning of the marked words.
