AB - This study, thus, aimed to reveal the characteristics of aspects and aktionsart expressed by prefix verbs combined with the prefix по-. The essential difference between aspect and aktionsart is that aspect is the grammatical meaning of a higher-level concept containing all lexical meanings, whereas aktionsart is not considered grammaticalized because its content is limited to one lexical category. This paper will present an empirical study of prefixal verbs with по- and their aspectual behavior in Russian. subsequently exploring these issues on a more theoretical level in terms of Russian aspect and aktionsart.
