중국어 방언의 양사 중첩식은 단순 중첩식과 접사 부가식, 이렇게 크게 두 가지 유형으로 나눌 수 있다. 그리고 단순 중첩식은 AA식, AAA식, AAAA식으로, 접사 부가식은 접두사 부가식(XAA식), 접미사 부가식(AAX식), 접요사 부가식(AXA식)으로 하위 분류할 수 있다. 중국어 방언에서 자주 보이는 양사 중첩식은 AA식과 AXA식이다. AAAA식과 XAA식은 분포 범위가 매우 좁다. AAA식은 주로 동부 지역에 분포하는 반면에 AAX식은 주로 서남 지역에 분포하고, AXA식은 남쪽에 광범위하게 분포하고 있다. 이들 양사 중첩식은 AA식 → AAA식 → AAAA식, 그리고 AA식 → AXA식 → AAX식 → XAA식, 이렇게 두 가지 방향으로 발전하였고 볼 수 있다. 양사의 중첩식은 ‘전부’라는 기본 의미에서 ‘하나하나’, ‘다량’, ‘한가득’, ‘소량’ 등 점차 새로운 의미들이 생겨났고 다양한 어법 의미를 지니게 되었다. 하지만 이 모든 의미를 관통하는 하나의 공통 의미가 있는데 바로 ‘주관량’이다. 양사 중첩식이 어떠한 어법 의미를 나타내든 모두 주관량의 의미를 함께 내포한다. 주관량은 화자가 주관적으로 대상의 양이 많다, 또는 적다고 여기는 것으로 객관적 사실상의 양과는 전혀 관계가 없다. 대부분은 주관량 중에서도 다량을 나타내는데 A把A식만 예외적으로 소량을 나타낸다. 이는 접요사 ‘把’가 아직 덜 허화되어 그 의미가 중첩식에 남아있기 때문이다.
The reduplication of classifiers in Chinese dialects can be divided into two main types: simple reduplication and affix additions. Simple reduplications can be subclassified into AA, AAA, and AAAA. Affix additions can be subclassified into prefix addition(XAA), suffix addition(AAX), and infix addition(AXA). In Chinese dialects, the reduplication of classifiers that are often seen are AA and AXA. The distribution range of AAAA and XAA is very narrow. The AAA is mainly distributed in the eastern region, while the AAX is mainly distributed in the southwest region, and the AXA is widely distributed in the south. These reduplication of classifiers have developed in two directions: AA → AAA → AAAA, and AA → AXA → AAX → XAA. From the basic meaning of “all”, the reduplication of classifiers gradually gained new meanings such as “one by one”, “a large amount”, “full”, and “a small amount”. However, there is one common meaning that runs through all of these meanings, and that is “subjective quantity”. Whatever the meaning of the reduplication of classifiers represents, they all represent the meaning of subjective quantity. Most of them represent a large amount of subjective quantity, but only the AbaA represents a small amount. This is because the infix “b” is still less grammaticalized, and its meaning remains in the reduplication of classifiers.
