This study explores the intricate relationships between job insecurity, organizational trust, knowledge- related behavior, and corporate ethics within the context of small businesses. By utilizing structural equation modeling with data from 295 employees of various small enterprises, our research empirically tests the mediating role of organizational trust in the relationship between job insecurity and knowledge- hiding behavior, as well as the moderating role of corporate ethics in the relationship between job insecurity and organizational trust. The results of this paper showed that organizational trust functions as a critical mediator in the association between job insecurity and knowledge-hiding behavior. This research highlights that as job insecurity intensifies, employees' trust in their organization diminishes, leading to an increase in knowledge-hiding behaviors. Furthermore, our study reveals that corporate ethics positively moderates the job insecurity- organizational trust link, mitigating the harmful effects of job insecurity on organizational trust. By bridging critical gaps in the literature, this study makes novel contributions to understanding the complex dynamics between job insecurity, organizational trust, knowledge-hiding behavior, and corporate ethics in small businesses.
