본 연구는 예비유아교사들이 유아를 위한 그림책을 제작하고, 제작 경험을 탐색하여 그림책 제작의 의미를 찾는 데 목적이 있다. G시 S대학교 4학년 학생 15명의 그림책 제작 경험을 탐색하였다. 수집한 저널, 면담, 제작과정 동영상, 문자, 최종 제작된 그림책 등을 전사한 A4용지 60장 분량을 Strauss and Corbin(1990)이 제시한 개방 코딩에 따라 분석하였다. 학생들이 제작한 그림책 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아문학으로서 그림책 주제와 소재를 다룬 내용과 장르이다. 둘째, 학생들은 다양한 작가의 시점 혼용으로 수정과 보완이 계속해서 이루어졌다. 셋째, 유아를 위한 간결한 문장 만들기의 어려움을 겪었다. 그림책 제작과정 경험 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 그림책을 제작하는 고민의 막막함에서 새로운 도전으로 성취감을 이루었다. 둘째, 학생들은 서로 작품에 대해 조언해 주며 서로 도움을 주고 공유하였다. 셋째, 유아 흥미에 맞는 그림책을 보는 안목이 생겼다. 넷째, 그림책 제작과정의 시행착오는 결과의 아쉬움과 배움의 기회를 주었다. 후속 연구에서는 제작한 그림책을 활용하여 유아교육 현장에서 유아들에게 들려주고 결과를 분석하여 유아들에게 적합한 그림책을 제작할 것을 제언한다.
The purpose of this study is to explore pre-service early childhood teachers’ experience in producing picture books for young children and find meaning of the picture book production. The picture book production experience of 15 seniors at S University in G City was explored. 60 sheets of A4 paper transcribing the collected journals, interview, production process video, text messages, and finally produced picture books were analyzed according to open coding presented by Strauss and Corbin (1990). The details of the picture books were as follows First, the picture books were the genre containing the details of picture book themes and subject matters as child literature. Second, the pre-service early childhood teachers continued corrections and supplementations by mixing various writers’ viewpoints. Third, they underwent difficulties in making simple sentences for young children. This study presented the following as a result of exploring picture book production process experience. First, the pre-service teachers had a sense of accomplishment through challenges from the hopeless worries of producing picture books. Second, the pre-service teachers helped and shared one another through pieces of advice on their works. Third, they got a new perspective in choosing suitable picture books for young children. Fourth, the trial and error of the picture book production process simultaneously offered a sense of frustration on outcomes and an opportunity of learning. In a further study, this study proposes producing picture books suitable for young children by delivering the picture book stories to young children at early childhood education sites using the produced picture books and through an analysis of the results.
