본 연구는 프랑스 예수회 선교사 한학 시대 조아셍 부베(Joachim Bouvet, 白晉, 1656~1730)의 색은사상과 역경 연구를 살펴보기 위해 마련되었다. 명청시기(16~18세기) ‘예수회 선교사 한학 시대’는 문명 간 대화, 그리고 그와 연관된 현대문명을 반성할 때 중요한 지식적ㆍ문화적 자원과 영감을 제공하는 역사모델로 인식된다. 16~18세기 예수회 선교사 한학자들을 매개로 진행된 동서양의 문명 대화는 17 세기 말 프랑스 예수회 중국선교단의 중국 진입을 계기로 후기 예수회 선교사 한학시대를 맞이한다. 프랑스 예수회원의 한학 저작은 대단히 방대하며 그 중에서도 이시대를 통틀어 부베를 중심으로 한 ‘색은주의(Figurism) 한학’은 주목할 만하다. 색은주의를 표방한 프랑스 예수회원의 탁월한 연구 성과는 ‘예수회 선교사 한학’ 발전의 절정을 보여주기 때문이다. 특히 강희시기, 강희제의 직접적인 지도로 이루어진부베 등의 역경 연구는 청나라 전기 동서양의 문명(문화)교류사에서 중요한 사건이다. 본 연구에서는 바티칸 도서관에 소장된 부베의 역경 연구의 일차 문헌들에의거해 색은주의적 역경 연구를 매개로 강희제와 부베 간에 전개된 문화 대화를체계적으로 분석하고 검토했다.
This study was prepared to examine the Figurist thought of Joachim Bouvet (白晉, 1656~1730), and his study of Yijing (易經, Book of Changes) in the French Jesuit Missionary Sinology Period. The Jesuit Missionary Sinology Era during the Ming and Qing Dynasties (16th~18th centuries) is recognized as a historical model that provides important intellectual and cultural resources and inspiration when reflecting on dialogue between civilizations and related modern civilization. The civilizational dialogue between the East and the West, which was carried out through the medium of Jesuit missionary Sinologist in the 16th~18th centuries, greeted the late Jesuit Missionary Sinology Era with the entry of the French Jesuit missionary group into China at the end of the 17th century. The works of Sinology by the French Jesuits are very extensive, and among them, Figurist Sinology centered on Bouvet throughout this era is noteworthy. This is because the outstanding research achievements of the French Jesuits, who advocated Figurism, show the culmination of the development of Jesuit Missionary Sinology. In particular, the study of Yijing by Bouvet and others under the direct guidance of Emperor Kangxi (康熙) during the reign of Kangxi is an important event in the history of civilization (cultural) exchange between the East and the West in the early Qing Dynasty. In this study, based on the primary documents of Bouvet’s Yijing research stored in the Vatican Library, we systematically analyzed and reviewed the cultural dialogue between Emperor Kangxi and Bouvet through the medium of the Figurist Yijing study.
