본 연구는 산업의 수출경쟁력 분석에 있어서 무역중심성지수의 활용가능성을 탐색하기 위한 것으로 제72류 철강과 제73류 철강 제품의 글로벌 수출 상위 30개국을 대상으로 수행되었다. 수출경쟁력지수는 무역특화지수와 현시비교우위지수를 사용하였으며 무역중심성지수는 근접중심성지수와 매개중심성지수, 위세중심성지수를 사용하였다. 분석데이터는 UN Comtrade Database를 통해 수집하였으며 분석 기간은 2012년부터 2021년으로 설정하였다. 무역특화지수와 현시비교우위지수는 수집된수출입 데이터를 이용하여 연구자가 직접 계산하였으며 무역중심성지수는 수집된 데이터를 Edge List 방식으로 변환한 후 무역 연결망 분석을 실시하여 도출하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 제72류와 제73류 모두 수출액과 99% 수준에서 정(+)의 상관관계가 나타났다. 근접중심성지수는 두 개의제품류의 TSI와 RCA에서 모두 정(+)의 상관관계가 확인되었으며, 매개중심성지수는 제72류의 RCA 와는 부(-) 상관관계가 나타났고, 제73류의 TSI와는 정(+)의 상관관계가 확인되었다. 위세중심성지수는 제72류의 TSI와 RCA에서 부(-)의 상관관계가 확인되었다. 본 연구의 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 무역중심성지수를 통한 수출경쟁력 분석에의 활용 가능성 확인이다. 두 번째는 수출경쟁력지수와 무역중심성지수의 관계를 살펴본 점이다. 마지막으로 자유무역협정을 통한 수출경쟁력 강화에관한 시사점이다.
Research Purpose: This study is designed to explore the application of the trade centrality index in the analysis of the export competitiveness of industries. Research Methods: The analysis target is the top 30 countries in the global export of HS Code of Chapters 72 and 73 items. Data is collected through the UN Comtrade Database, and the analysis period is set from 2012 to 2021. TSI and RCA are directly calculated by the researcher using the collected import and export data, and the trade centrality index is derived by converting the collected data to the Edge List method and then conducting trade network analysis. Results in Research: All indexes of HS Code 72 and 73 items showed a positive correlation with export value at a level of 99%. The closeness centrality index showed a positive correlation with both TSI and RCA for the two items, while the betweenness centrality index showed a negative correlation with HS Code 72 items of RCA and a positive correlation with HS Code 73 items of TSI. The eigenvector centrality index showed a negative correlation only with HS Code 72 items of TSI and RCA. Research Conclusion: The implications of this study are as follows. First, it is possible to use the export competitiveness analysis through the trade centrality index. The second is to examine the relationship between the export competitiveness index and the trade centrality index. Finally, there are implications for strengthening export competitiveness through free trade agreements.
