본 논문은 바울의 내어줌양식문과 죽음양식문의 전승사적 배경과 그 신학적 의미를 탐구한다. 바울의 내어줌양식문과 죽음양식문은 바울이 예수의 죽음을 이야기할 때 매우 자주 사용하는 표현으로 이 표현의 배경이 무엇인지, 그리고, 바울이 예수의 죽음을 어떻게 이해하는가라는 질문과 관련하여 여전히 논란의 중심에 있다. 본 연구는 바울의 내어줌양식문과 죽음양식문이 나타나는 본문 분석을 중심으로 이 양식문의 전승사적 배경과 이 양식문에 담긴 신학적 의미를 밝힌다. 특히 최근 유럽학계를 중심으로 강세를 보이고 있는 헬라, 로마 세계의 대리적 죽음과 연결지어 이해하려는 흐름을 비판적으로 고찰하고 바울의 내어줌양식문과 죽음양식문의 다양한 형태들을 이사야 53장의 영향하에서 설명한다. 그리고, 속죄, 대속과 같은 전통적 개념들이 여전히 예수의 죽음의 의미를 설명하는 데 있어서 유용하다고 본다. 이 외에도 본 논문은 예수의 죽음 진술이 바울에게 있어서 그리스도의 사랑, 하나님의 사랑과 어떻게 연결되는지, 또한 신자의 삶을 향한 여러 가지 권면과 어떤 관련성이 있는지 설명한다.
This study delves into the tradition-historical context and theological implications of Paul’s ‘giving’ and ‘dying’ formulas. These formulas, which Paul frequently used when discussing Jesus‘ death, continue to stir controversy regarding their origin and how Paul interprets Jesus’ death. Through an in-depth examination of the texts where Paul’s ‘giving’ and ‘dying’ formulas are present, this paper uncovers their tradition-historical context and inherent theological meanings. In particular, it critically analyzes the prevailing tendency, especially in European academia, to understand these formulas in the context of vicarious death in the Greco-Roman world. This Study explains various versions of Paul’s ‘giving’ and ‘dying’ formulas under the influence of Isaiah 53. Moreover, this research asserts that traditional concepts like expiation or substitutionary atonement are still useful in explaining the meaning of Jesus’ death. Furthermore, this paper illuminates how the declaration of Jesus’ death links to the love of Christ and God in Paul's letters, and its relevance to diverse admonitions concerning a believer's life.
