본 연구는 영유아의 신체표현활동에 대한 보육교사의 실천 경험과 인식에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 국공립어린이집 교사 5명과 반구조적 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 실천 경험과 관련하여, 교사들은 실제 교육과정에서 신체표현활동을 충분히 제공하고 있지는 않았다. 예술, 문학 및 과학 활동이나 유아 경험과 연계하여 주로 활동을 진행하였다. 부모들은 신체표현활동에 무관심하지만, 교사는 가정연계활동을 통해 부모의 관심을 이끌고자 하였다. 교사들은 새로운 시도와 도전을 위해 노력하였고 그 결과는 유아의 반응으로 나타났다. 둘째, 교사들은 유아기에는 신체표현활동을 통해 자유로움과 즐거움을 배우는 것이 중요하다고 인식하였다. 신체표현활동은 유아의 전인 발달을 견인할 수 있으며, 교사의 역할이 중요하다고 보았다. 현장에서는 신체표현활동과 관련된 인적, 시간적, 재정적 지원이 필요하며, 교사의 전문성 증진을 위해서 교사 맞춤형 연수나 세미나 또는 동료 교사들과 문제해결을 해나갈 수 있는 학습공동체가 필요하다고 인식하였다. 본 연구는 영유아의 창의적인 자기표현으로서 신체표현활동을 활성화하는 데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.
This study aimed to explore childcare teachers' practice experiences and perceptions of young children’s physical expression activities in public childcare centers. Five teachers from public childcare centers in Gyeonggi-do participated in this study, and data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The findings were as follows. First, in terms of practice, physical expression activities were insufficiently provided in the curriculum. They were mostly implemented in conjunction with art, literature, and science activities or children’s experiences. Parents were indifferent to physical expression activities, but teachers tried to engage parents through home-based activities. Teachers strived to try new items and challenges, and their efforts were reflected in the children's responses. Second, regarding teachers' perceptions, it was important for children to learn freedom and enjoyment through physical expression in early childhood. Physical expression can lead to the holistic development of children, and the role of teachers is significant. The need for human resources, time, and financial support, as well as for customized training and seminars for teachers to improve their professionalism, was recognized. This study is meaningful in that it aims to contribute toward the promotion of physical expression as a creative self-expression of young children, by examining the experiences and perceptions of teachers in early childhood education setting.
