A Study on the Aspects of the Seoul blocked printed novels in France, Russia, and England

프랑스·러시아·영국에는 조선시대 서울에서 간행된 경판본 소설이 각각 48·28·24종이 소장되어 있다. 프랑스·러시아·영국에 소장된 경판본 소설은 19세기 조선을 방문한 외교관이자 극동학자였던 Plancy·Satow·Aston·Möllendorff에 의해 수집되었다. 이미 19세기 전에 프랑스·러시아·영국 등 유럽에서는 식민지 확보를 위한 극동학의 교육과 연구의 기반이 확립되어 있었으며 Plancy와 Courant, Satow·Aston·Möllendorff는 조선 서적에 대한 안목이 있었고 서로 협력했기에 경판본 소설을 수집 및 소장할 수 있었다. 프랑스·러시아·영국에 소장된 경판본 소설은 19세기 조선의 경판본 소설 향유 문화가 반영되어 있으며 유교 이념과 가족 윤리를 중시하는 조선의 민족성이 드러나 있다. 그리고 국내에 공개되지 않은 경판 2권 2책 <숙향전>, 3권 3책 <임진록>, 31장 <조웅전>, 25장 <양풍전>이 소장되어 있다. <숙향전><조웅전><양풍전>은 해당 경판본의 최고본으로 보이기에 경판본 소설의 변모양상과 이본 연구에 대한 재론이 가능하다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the aspects and values of Seoul blocked printed novels in France, Russia, and England. For this research, I conducted a survey of Seoul blocked printed novels in France, Russia and England from 2018 to 2019. In France, there are Seoul blocked printed novels in the library of the National Museum of Asian Arts-Guimet and the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations. In Russia, there are Seoul blocked printed novels in the library of the St. Petersburg University and Institute of Oriental Manuscripts, Russian Aacademy of Sciences. In England, the British Library has Seoul blocked printed novels. In France, Russia, and England, there are 48, 28, and 24 kinds of Seoul blocked printed novels published in Seoul during the Joseon Dynasty. These Seoul blocked printed novels were collected by Plancy, Satow, Aston, and Möllendorff who were diplomats and far eastern scholars who visited Joseon in the 19th century. Already before the nineteenth century, France, Russia, and England had established a foundation for far eastern education and research to secure colonies. Plancy, Courant, Satow, Aston, and Möllendorff had an eye for Joseon books and cooperated with each other. So they were able to collect and collect the Seoul blocked printed novels. The novels in France, Russia, and England reflect the culture of enjoying the novels of the 19th century Joseon. And they reflect the ethnicity of Joseon, which emphasizes Confucian ideology and family ethics. In addition, there are <Sukhyang jeon><Imjinrok><Jowoongjeon><Yangpungjeon> which have not yet been released in Korea. These works have opened up the possibility of reinterpretation of the transformation of the Seoul blocked printed novels and the study of versions.
