본고는 김시습의 <만복사저포기>, <이생규장전>, <취유부벽정기> 세 작품 속 인물의 환상체험이 애도 과정에서 어떤 의미를 갖는지 분석하였다. 서사세계의 산 자들은 환상체험을 통해 망자의 상실을 경험하고, 자신의 외로움 이면에 자리잡은 상실감을 체감하였다. 또한, 부정(否定)하고 싶은 상실의 현실을 직면하거나 상실감을 공유하며 공감받았다. 그런데 세 작품 속 인물은 환상체험 후 다양한 방식으로 현실을 등지는 선택을 하였다. 데리다의 관점에서 해석하자면, 이는 산 자가 폭력적인 현실과의 결별을 주체적으로 선택하는 것이며 죽은 자들의 의미를 늘 현재화하고 책임지는 모습이다. 김시습 작품 속 인물의 애도 과정은 프로이트 관점에서 산 자가 죽은 자를 잘 보내고 일상으로 돌아오는 전통적 의미를 넘어선다. 김시습은 전기(傳奇)의 환상체험을 통해 살아남은 자가 죽은 자를 기억하고 내면화하여 윤리적 애도 주체가 되는 과정을 그렸다. 김시습은 전기(傳奇)의 자장을 공유하면서도 독자적인 환상과 애도의 미학을 구현하였다. 산 자가 죽은 자와 연결되는 환상체험은 고소설사를 가로지르며 현대서사에서도 지속적으로 출현한다. 이를 통해 시대를 초월하여 서사 향유층은 애도 과정에서 환상의 힘을 알고 계승한다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구가 애도 과정이라는 의미의 축을 기준을 하여 장르별 환상의 역할과 의미를 분석하는 데 원점 역할을 하기를 기대한다.
This paper analyzed what the fantasy experiences of the characters in Kim Si-seup's three works, “Manboksajeopogi”, “Leesaengyujangjeon”, “Chwiyuboobyuckjeonggi”, mean in the process of mourning. The living in the narrative world experienced the loss of the dead through fantasy experiences and felt the loss behind their loneliness. In addition, he faced the reality of loss that he wanted to deny or shared a sense of loss and sympathized. However, the characters in the three works made a choice to turn their backs on reality in various ways after a fantasy experience. From Derrida's point of view, it is the living person's independent choice to break up with violent reality, and they are always presenting and responsible for the meaning of the dead. The mourning process of the character in Kim Si-seup's work goes beyond the traditional meaning of the living sending the dead well and returning to their daily lives from a Freudian point of view. Through the fantasy experience of the Jeon-gi(傳奇), Kim Si-seup described the process of the survivor remembering and internalizing the dead to become the subject of ethical mourning. While sharing the magnetic field of Jeon-gi(傳奇), Kim Si-seup embodied his own fantasy and aesthetics of mourning. The fantasy experience in which the living is connected to the dead crosses the history of classical novels and continues to appear in modern narratives. Through this, it can be said that those who enjoy narratives beyond the times know and inherit the power of fantasy in the process of mourning. Based on the axis of the mourning process, it is expected that this study will serve as an origin in analyzing the role and meaning of fantasy by genre.
