이 논의는 한국어　인과관계 표현을 의미　기능에　따라　범주화하여 그 의미적　특성을 명시적으로 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 특히 한국어에 나타나는 다양한 인과관계 표현들의 의미 기능과 그에 따른 여러 언어학적 특성을 밝히는 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 통해 한국어 인과관계 표현들의 의미 기능과 그로 인하여 나타나는 다양한 특성을 이해하고, 이를 교육하는 데 필요한 이론적 근거를 제안해 보았다. 인과관계는 사태 간 의미적 연관성을 연구하는 주제에서 많이 다루어져 왔다. 특히 연결어미를 중심으로 두 사태에 대하여 의미적 연결성에 대한 발화자의 인지적 해석 방식을 표현하는 형식으로서의 그 의미 기능을 밝히기 위한 연구가 계속되어 왔다. 기존의 연구에서는 의미 기능의 기준과 의미 기능에 따른 통사적, 의미적, 화용적 특성과 각종 제약 현상을 정리하였다. 그런데 같은 형태의 연결어미 등의 표현 형식이 다양한 맥락에서 쓰이면서 어떻게 여러 의미 기능을 갖게 되는지와, 동일한 맥락과 사태에서 다양한 형식의 표현이 가능한지에 대한 연구는 최근까지도 쟁점이 되고 있다. 이러한 문제를 더욱 체계적으로 해결하기 위해서는 의미 기능 각각의 특성을 분명히 정리하고 의미 기능 사이의 상관성을 밝혀 구조화하여야 할 필요가 있다. 이번 논의에서는 인과관계와 관련된 의미 기능을 개념적으로 정리하고 이 의미 기능과 관련된 각종 언어학적 특성과 제약을 살펴보았다. 그리고 의미 기능들 사이의 상관성을 분석하여 인과관계를 나타내는 의미 구조와 의미 기능 체계를 제시하고자 하였다.

This discussion categorizes Korean reason-cause expressions according to meaning and function and explicitly presents their semantic function. Accordingly, I suggest a method to clarify the semantic function of various reason-causal expressions in Korean and linguistic characteristics. Through this, I can understand the semantic function of Korean causal expressions and the various characteristics that result from them and suggest the theoretical basis necessary for education. The causal relationship has been abundantly dealt with in studying the semantic connection between events. In particular, studies have been conducted to clarify that semantic function expresses the speaker's cognitive interpretation method for the semantic connectivity of the two situations, centering on the link ending. Previous studies summarized syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic characteristics and constraints according to semantic function and its standards. However, research on how the connective link ending has multiple semantic functions while being used in various contexts and whether various forms of expression are possible in the same context and situation has been lackluster until recently. It is necessary to arrange the characteristics of each semantic function and structure it by clarifying the correlation between semantic functions to solve these problems more systematically. In this discussion, the semantic function related to the reason-causal relationship was conceptually organized, and the related linguistic characteristics and limitations were examined. In addition, the semantic structure and functional semantic system representing causal relationships were presented by analyzing the correlation between semantic functions.
