본 연구의 목적은 분단 이후 한반도의 다양한 통일 담론과 통일 방안을 살펴보고, 과거의 논의들을 토대로 하여 우리가 지향해야 할 한반도의 통일담론과 통일방안을 모색하는데 있다. 이를 위해 통일정책과 대북정책, 통일담론의 의미와 상관성을 논의한 이후 한국 사회에서 통일 담론이 어떻게 전개 되었는지를 살펴보고자 했다. 그 결과 보수와 진보 정부에 따라 통일정책의 중점 내용이 달라지긴 했지만, 대부분 통일과 평화에 대한 내용들이 복합적으로 추진 및 강조되었다는 점을 파악할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 ‘선후’가 아닌 통일과 평화의 ‘병행’을 지향할 것을 제안하였다.
The purpose of this study is to examine various discourses and measures for unification after the division of the Korean Peninsula. Based on this, this study seeks to explore the unification discourse and unification measures on the Korean Peninsula that we should pursue. After discussing the meaning and correlation of unification policy, North Korea policy, and unification discourse, this study examined how the discourse on unification in Korean society developed. As a result, the focus changed depending on the government, but it was promoted in a complex manner. It is not completely neglecting other issues. Therefore, in this study, it was suggested that the new theory of unification aims for the "parallel" of unification and peace, not the "first and Later".
