이 글은 1990년대 여성시에 나타나는 ‘웃음’의 양상을 ‘수렴의 웃음’, ‘전환의 웃음’, ‘발산의 웃음’으로 유형화하고 그 안에 깃든 정치성을 살펴보고자 한다. 웃음의 각 유형에는 위계가 존재하지 않으며, 각각은 상호 중첩의 가능성을 지닌다. 그동안 웃음을 나타내는 시적 언어의 정치성은 표면적인 정치성을 보여 주는 사례에 국한하여 논의되었다. 그러나 1990년대 이후의 여성시를 살펴볼 때에는 웃음과 정치성의 지평을 보다 확장할 필요가 있다. 이에 따라 이 논문에서는 웃음의 유형과 그에 따른 정치적 효과를 확장하여 살펴보고자 한다. ‘수렴의 웃음’을 보이는 시들에서 반어적 냉소의 태도를 지닌 시적 주체의 발화는 공허한 것처럼 보이며, 웃음의 정치성은 극소화되는 것으로 보인다. 그러나 시적 주체의 수렴하는 정동은 일상적 폭력에 노출된 여성 주체의 목소리를 드러낸다는 점에서 현실의 폭력성을 환기한다. ‘전환의 웃음’을 보이는 시들에서 시적 주체는 상실을 전경화하고, ‘웃음’을 통해 전환되는 정동을 드러낸다. 전환의 웃음은 다양하게 읽힐 여지를 만들어 낸다. ‘발산의 웃음’을 보이는 시들에서 시적 주체는 공동체를 장악한 폭력에 대해 ‘웃음’으로 저항하는 모습을 보인다. 이때의 웃음에는 표면적 정치성이 극대화되어 나타난다.
This article aims to categorize the aspects of "laugh" that appear in women's poetry in the 1990s into "laughs of convergence," "laughs of conversion," and "laughs of emitting," and to examine the politics contained in them. There is no hierarchy in each type of laughter, and each has the possibility of overlapping each other. Until now, the politics of poetic language representing laughter has been discussed only in cases showing superficial politics. However, when looking at women's poetry after the 1990s, it is necessary to further expand the horizon of laughter and politics. Accordingly, in this paper, we would like to expand and examine the type of laughter and the political effects accordingly. The speech of a poetic subject with an attitude of irony seems empty in poems showing "the laughter of convergence," and the politics of laughter seems to be minimized. However, the converging emotion of the poetic subject evokes the violence of reality in that it reveals the voice of the female subject exposed to daily violence. In poems that show "the laughter of conversion," the poetic subject foretells loss and reveals the emotion of conversion through "the laughter." The laughter of conversion creates room for various readings. In poems that show "the laughter of the emitting," the poetic subject appears to resist the violence that dominated the community with "the laughter." The laughter at this time is maximized with superficial politics.
