윤리적 주제와 관련된 우리의 편견은 윤리학 논의를 그른 결론으로 이끌어 간다. 종평등주의와 동물해방론에 근거하여 우리의 전통적인 윤리적 견해가 ‘종차별주의’라는 비판이 그 예이다. 여기에서 나는 종 평등주의와 동물해방론의 문제점을 밝히고, 이들이 우리의 윤리학이 기초로 삼을 적절한 관점이 아니라는 것을 분명히 해 두려고 하였다. 그리고 ‘종차별주의’의 관점이 여전히 유지될 수 있다는 것을 주장하였다. 그래서 종평등주의와 동물해방론을 비판하고, 종차별주의를 옹호하는 내용을 담고 있다. 즉, 도덕성의 전통적 사유가 종차별주의라는 비판이 과장되었다는 것을 밝혔다. 종차별주의가 인종차별주의나 성차별주의와 동일한, 아니 유사하지도 않다는 것을 해명하였다. 이를 통해서 인간 중심주의와 종차별주의가 도덕적 핵심적 사유로 여전히 유지될 수 있다는 것을 보여주었다.
Our prejudices regarding ethical issues lead ethical discussions to wrong conclusions. An example is the claim in our moral discussion that our traditional ethics have endorsed ‘speciesism,’ which is morally wrong. Here I have tried to address the wrongness in the species egalitarianism and animal liberation, and to make it clear that they are not appropriate on which to base our ethics. And I argued that ‘speciesism’ can still be maintained as an appropriate ethical view. Criticizing the species egalitarianism and animal liberation theory and advocating the speciesism. In other words, now it is revealed that the criticism that the traditional morality is speciesism is exaggerated. It is clarified that speciesism is neither the same nor similar to racism or sexism. Through this, it was shown that anthropocentrism and speciesism can still be maintained as core ethics.
