이 글의 목적은 윤선도가 <어부사시사>을 제작한 현실적 의미에 주목하여 작품의 성격을 탐색하는 데 있다. 이 작품에서 널리 알려진 어휘는 ‘흥’이다. 하지만 흥 이외에도 일정한 규칙 속에서 자주 등장하는 표현들이 존재한다는 점에서 출발한 논의다. 먼저 <어부사시사>의 발문에 나타난 제작 의도와 목적을 검토하였다. 작품의 실상을 명확히 규명하기 위해서는 제작 배경부터 제대로 이해할 필요가 있기 때문이다. 검토 결과, 제작 의도는 자신의 은거관인 ‘遺世獨立之意’를 형상화하는 것이며, 주 목적은 창주 일사를 감응시키는 데 있다. 다음으로 ‘유세독립’의 의미를 살펴보았다. 일단 ‘유세’의 의미는 각 계절마다 등장하는 세속적 표현에서 유추가 가능하다. 이들 표현 속에는 세속에 대한 ‘심리적 해방’과 ‘심리적 구속’이라는 두 가지 심리가 내재해 있다. 이 두 모순적 심리는 ‘유세’에 세속으로의 복귀 가능성을 열어둔 ‘잠정적 은거’의 뜻이 함의되어 있음을 시사한다. 한편 ‘독립’은 때를 기다리며 마음을 맑게 하는 심성 수양의 의미를 지닌다. 그리고 달을 심성 수양의 매개로 인식하고 있다. 종합하자면, ‘유세독립’의 뜻은 이상적 탈속 지향과 윤리 규범적 귀속 지향이 공존하는 이중적 의미로 풀이된다. ‘유세독립’의 이중적 의미는 윤선도의 은거 생활과 관련이 깊다. 병자호란 때 임금을 알현하지 않고 은거한 죄로 탄핵된다. 이 사건 이후, 은거의 정당성에 대한 비난과 해명의 굴레가 평생을 뒤따르게 된다. 이런 와중에 제작된 <어부사시사>에서, 윤선도는 은거의 뜻이 일원적이지 않으며, 자신의 삶 또한 유가의 전통적 처세 방법 중 하나임을 역사적 인물로 제시한다. 결론적으로 <어부사시사>는 은거에 대한 해명이자 교시의 노래라고 할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to explore the nature of the work by paying attention to the realistic meaning of Yun Seon-do's “Eobusasisa”. This discussion began by recognizing that the work had frequently appearing expressions based on certain rules in addition to ‘Heung(興)’, which is most recognized word in the work. The study first reviewed the creative intention and goal in the postscript of “Eobusasisa” as it was necessary to understand its creative background right to investigate its reality clearly. The analysis results show that its production intention was to embody ‘Yusedokripjiui(遺世獨立之意: meaning of leaving the world and standing alone)' and that its goal was to impress people living a secluded life. Next, the study scrutinized the meaning of ‘Yusedokrip(遺世獨立)’. The meaning of ‘Yuse(遺世)’ can be inferred from secular expressions of each season. Inherent in these expressions are two mentalities, ‘psychological liberation’ from the mundane world and ‘psychological restraint’ on it. These two contradicting mentalies imply that ‘Yuse’ connotes ‘provisional retirement’ with open possibilities for a return to the mundane world. ‘Dokrip(獨立)’ has the meaning of mind cultivation to clear one's mind while waiting for the right time. Here, the moon is considered as a medium of mind cultivation. When these are put together, ‘Yusedokrip’ is understood to have dual meanings between an orientation toward ideal unworldliness and an orientation toward an ethical and normative return. The dual meaning of ‘Yusedokrip’ is closely related to Yun Seon-do’s secluded life. He was impeached for not having an audience with the king during the second Manchu invasion and staying in seclusion. Since this event, criticisms and explanations for the legitimacy of seclusion continued. Yun Seon-do shows that the meaning of retirement is not one in "Eobusasisa". And he presents as a historical figure that his life is also one of the traditional ways of life. In his "Eobusasisa" created in this situation, Yun Seon-do proposes one of the traditional ways to get along in the world through a historical figure. In conclusion, it can be said that "Eobusasisa" is a song that explains and teaches about retirement.
