司馬師는 司馬懿의 뒤를 계승하여 권력을 장악하고 독점한 집권자이다. 정권을 장악한 4년의 짧은 기간 동안 李豊, 張緝의 난과 毌丘儉, 文欽의 난을 진압하였고, 또한 曹芳의 폐위와 曹髦의 옹립을 통하여 조씨 세력을 극도로 약화시켜 권력을 안정시키고 魏晉교체의 기반을 다질 수 있게 하였다. 부친인 司馬懿의 든든한 정치적 동지이자 후원자로서 유업을 계승하고 동생인 司馬昭에게 권력을 넘겨주는 교량역할을 했음은 물론이고, 공포정치를 통한 강력한 카리스마를 지닌 정치지도자로서 정무능력과 치국의 책략까지 겸비한 魏晉교체기의 중심인물이라 해도 과언이 아니다. 본고는 司馬師를 대상으로 사서에 기록된 관련 기사들을 적출, 함께 집중시켜 입체적으로 파악하여 단순하지 않고 복잡한 多面的 인물의 완정한 모습을 그려내 보고자 하였으며, 아울러 권력의 중심에서 국가를 경영하며 그가 한 역할과 업적은 무엇인지도 함께 살펴보고자 하였다.
Simashi is the second-generation ruler who monopolized power by succeeding to Simayi. During the short four-year period in which he seized power, he suppressed the revolts of Lifeng and Zhangji, as well as Quanqiujian and Wenqin’s. And through the dethronement of Caofang and the enthronement of Caomao, the power of the Cao family was extremely weakened. He stabilized power and made it possible to lay the foundation for the replacement of Wei-Jin. As a strong political ally and supporter of his father, Simayi, he inherited the legacy and served as a bridge to hand over power to his younger brother, Simazhao. It is an undeniable fact that there is a negative view of the reign of terror to maintain the regime. However, he is a central figure in the transition period of Wei-Jin, who has the personality and qualities as a political leader with strong charisma, as well as political ability and strategy for governing the country. This paper is a series of previously published papers. This time, the subject was Simashi, who played an important role historically during the transition period of Wei-Jin. He is Simayi’s strong political ally and supporter. It is because he played a key role in laying the groundwork for the establishment of the Jin Dynasty by pacifying the local powers that opposed the Sima family by force and by hiring talented people fairly. I would like to extract the stories of Simashi recorded in history books to create a complete figure of character, and also look at the role and achievements he played while managing the country from the center of power.
