이 연구는 김기림의 시에서 여행이 가지는 의미를 초기 시를 중심으로 재검토하고자 하는 목적으로 수행되었다. 초기작을 모은 『태양의 풍속』에서부터 여행은 김기림 시에서 중요한 부분으로 거론되었다. 이후에도 연구자들은 여행을 매개로 김기림의 시를 이해하려는 시도를 계속해왔지만, 식민지 현실과 무관하다는 평가가 지배적이었다. 그러나 조선의 현실만을 고려하지 않을 때, 김기림 시의 세계사적 차원에서의 현실과 근대에 대한 인식을 찾아볼 수 있다. 여러 연구들이 김기림 시의 미적 전략에 대해 접근할 때, 니체 철학의 ‘명랑성’을 핵심 개념으로 이해한 것은 이 때문이다. 하지만 김기림이 니체의 개념을 접한 경로나 그것에 대한 사유의 밀도는 간과되어 왔다. 이 연구는 우선 이 부분을 살폈다. 그래서 김기림은 니체 저작의 영역(英譯)이나 일역(日譯)만이 아닌 원서를 참고하여 니체의 개념을 이해했음을 논증했다. 다음으로는 사회부 기자이자 문학 비평가로서의 두 정체성이 실제로는 상충하지 않았음을 검증했다. 이로써 여행시편을 비롯한 그의 시가 일견 사회성을 외면하는 것처럼 보이지만, 실은 비평에서 제시한 ‘움직이는 주관’과 ‘명랑성’에 위한 시적 실천의 결과였음을 밝혔다. 마지막으로 『태양의 풍속』의 구조 속에서 여행시편들이 ‘오후의 예의’에서 ‘오전의 생리’로 가기 위한 여정으로서 기획되었다는 사실을 확인했다.
This study was conducted for the purpose of reexamining the meaning of trip in Kim Ki-rim's poems, focusing on his early poems. From The Customs of the Sun, a collection of his early works, trip was mentioned as an important part in Kim Ki-rim's poetry. Afterwards, researchers continued to try to understand Kim Ki-rim's poems through the medium of trip, the dominant evaluation was that his poetry had nothing to do with the reality of colonial period. However, when we do not consider only the reality of Joseon, we can find the perception of reality and modernity in the dimension of world history in Kim Ki-rim's poetry. This is why several studies have understood the 'brightness' of Nietzsche's philosophy as a key concept when approaching the aesthetic strategy of Ki-rim Kim's poetry. However, the path through which Kim Ki-rim came into contact with Nietzsche's concept and the density of thinking about it have been overlooked. In this study, I first looked at this part. So, I demonstrated the fact that Kim Ki-rim understood Nietzsche's concept by referring to the original text, not just the English or Japanese translations of Nietzsche's writings. Next, it was verified that the two identities as a newspaper reporter for the Ministry of Social Affairs and a literary critic did not actually conflict. As a result, it was revealed that his poems, including trip poems, seem to ignore sociality at first glance, but in fact, they were the result of poetic practice for 'moving subjectivity' and 'brightness' suggested in criticism. Finally, in the structure of The Customs of the Sun, it was confirmed that the trip poems were planned as a journey to go from 'manner in the afternoon' to 'physiology in the forenoon'.
