본 연구는 미하일 체홉의 자연물의 이미지를 활용한 인물 구축 테크닉을 고찰하고, 연극 <말죽거리 악극단>의 인물 구축과 연기에 실제로 적용함을 목적으로 한다. 자연물의 모방은 자연물의 존재 원리, 상태, 의미를 관찰하고 응용하여 재현하는 일련의 예술과정을 의미한다. 미하일 체홉도 자연물의 모방에서영감을 얻은 자연물의 이미지를 활용한 인물 구축테크닉을 모든 연기 방법의 기초로 강조했고 배우의창조적 연기, 성격 창조, 인물 구축을 위한 유용한연기 방법으로 응용했다. 본 연구자는 연극 <말죽거리 악극단>에 미하일 체홉의 자연물의 이미지를 활용한 인물 구축 테크닉을 배역 선정과 대본 읽기, 자연물 선택, 인도 질문과 아이디어, 상상과 이미지 통합, 피드백, 인물 구축, 연기의 단계로 적용했다. 공연 종료 후 설문을 통해 배우들의 평가를 정리하고대안을 제시했다. 자연물의 이미지를 활용한 인물 구축 테크닉이 창조적 연기를 추구하는 배우들에게 독창적인 캐릭터를 구축할 수 있는 훌륭한 연기 방법이 되길 기대한다.
The purpose of this study is to examine Michael Chekhov’s character building technique using images of natural object and to apply it to the character building and performance of the play <Maljukjeori Musical Troupe>. Imitation of natural objects refers to a series of artistic processes that observe, apply, and recreate the principle, state, and meaning of natural object. Michael Chekhov also emphasized the technique of character building using images of natural object inspired by imitation of nature as the basis of all acting methods and applied it as a useful acting method for actors’ creative acting, character creation, and character building. As a co-director and acting coach, the researcher conducted Michael Chekhov’s technique in the following steps: role selection and script reading, natural object selection, guiding question and idea, imagination and incorporation of images, feedback, character building, and acting on stage. A post-performance questionnaire was used to summarize the actors’ evaluations and suggested alternative. This researcher hopes that the character building technique using images of natural object will be a great acting method for actors pursuing creative acting to build original character.
