이 글은 원불교의 시대정신, 이를 실현하기 위해 이산 박정훈이 쓴 「반백년을 넘어선 교단의 중대과제와 방향」의 내용, 의의, 시사점을 밝히고, 앞으로원불교의 시대정신 실현을 위한 제언을 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이산은 여러 분야의 전문성을 갖춘 인재를 기르고자 했고, 덕분에 원불교학은 타 학문 분과와 소통하며 양적 발전을 추구하고, 학문의 통합화·융합화를위한 초석을 다질 수 있었다. 그러나 원불교학은 양적 발전뿐만 아니라 질적발전이 필요하다. 또한, 전문화를 더욱 추구하는 동시에, 통합화, 융합화의 길로 나아가야 한다. 앞으로 원불교는 신앙, 수행 등의 내적, 주관적 목표와 함께, 보편성, 전문성확보라는 외적, 객관적 목표를 달성해야 할 것이다. 이를 통해 원불교는 도학과 과학을 병진하고 “시대를 따라 학업에 종사하여 모든 학문을 준비하라”는소태산의 가르침의 본의를 살리고, 현대 자본주의 사회의 모순에 대안을 제시하고 실천할 수 있을 것이다.
The purpose of this article is to reveal Won -Buddhism's zeitgeist, the contents, significance, and implications of 「 The Major Tasks and Directions of the Church Over Half a Hundred Years,」 written by Lee San Park Jeong-hun, and to make suggestions for the realization of Won -Buddhism's zeitgeist. Lee San tried to cultivate talented people with expertise in various fields, and thanks to this, Won -Buddhism was able to communicate with other academic departments to pursue quantitative development and lay the foundation for integration and convergence. However, Won -Buddhism is also required qualitative development. In addition, it is necessary to pursue specialization further and move on to the path of integration and convergence. In the future, Won -Buddhism should achieve the external, objective goal of securing universality and professionalism along with internal, subjective goals such as faith and performance. Through this, Won -Buddhism will be able to combine Ethics and science, utilize the essence of Sotaesan's teachings and “prepare for all studies by engaging in studies according to the times.” and present and practice alternatives to the contradictions of modern capitalist society.
