ChatGPT가 2022년 11월 30일에 발표되어 세계적인 반향을 일으키고 있다. 대화형 인공지능 언어 모델인ChatGPT는 과학기술 분야뿐만 아니라 교육, 경제, 사회 전반에 걸쳐 급속도로 확산되고 있으며, 그에 따른 논란도첨예하다. 본 연구에서는 ChatGPT 기반의 실제 질의⋅응답을 통해 ChatGPT가 지리교육에 활용될 수 있을지 판단해보았다. 연구결과, ChatGPT의 응답은 질문자의 궁금증을 해소할 만한 것이었으며, 추가적인 대화를 통해 지리교과의 심화문제도 해결할 수도 있었다. ChatGPT의 사용에 대해 여전히 논란이 있지만 체계적이고 구체적인 지침을마련하여 사용한다면 지리교육에 있어서 효과적인 학습 도구로써 사용될 수 있을 것이다. 주요어 : ChatGPT, 지리교육, 인공지능(AI), 질의⋅응답
ChatGPT was announced on November 30, 2022 and is causing a worldwide sensation. ChatGPT, a Conversation AI based Large Language Models, is rapidly spreading not only in science and technology, but also throughout education, economy, and society. And there is a lot of controversy about it. In this study, it was determined whether ChatGPT could be used for geography education through actual Q&A based on ChatGPT. As a result of the study, the responses of ChatGPT were able to solve the questioner’s curiosity, and through additional conversations, the advanced problem of geography subject could have been solved. Although there is still controversy about the use of ChatGPT, it can be used as an effective learning tool in geography education if systematic and specific guidelines are prepared and utilized.
