이 글에서는 지역 간의 네트워크와 상호작용의 관점에서 청동유물군을 중심으로 북한지역 비파형동검문화의 전개 과정을 규명하고, 이를 통해 추정되는 사회(또는 교류)관계 간의 어느 수준에서 ‘국’을 넘어서는 정치체나 북한지역의 고조선을 논의할 수 있는지를 살펴보려 했다. 북한지역 비파형동검문화의 청동유물에는 요동지역으로 연결되는 것이 많고, 그 종류와 수량이 한정되며, 일찍부터 지역성을 띠며 전개되는 것이 특징이다. 요동지역으로 연결되는 동검, 동모, 선형동부, 다뉴동경 등이 서북한을 중심으로 확인되며, 길림지역으로 연결되는 동모, 선형동부 등은 동북한을 중심으로 확인되고 있어 차별화된 상호작용의 네트워크가 있었음을 알 수 있다. 북한지역 비파형동검문화의 전개 과정에서 확인되는 주변 지역과의 네트워크와 상호작용은 크게 두단계나 네단계의 변화 과정을 거치는데, 대동강권 내에서도 단계별·권역별 차별성이 확인되고 있어 사회 성격 역시 같지 않았다고 생각된다. 1~2단계(초기~전기)에는 강남지역 중심으로 지석묘-석관묘에서 무기류가 단독 출토되고, 청동유물 부장묘가 지속되지 않아 규모있는 정치체를 상정하기 쉽지 않다. 이에 비해 3~4단계(후기~말기)에는 강북지역 중심으로 기존 묘제 외에 석곽묘-토광묘 등의 유구에서 무기류나 의기류가 단독 또는 조합되어 출토되며, 부장묘가 급증·지속되는 것은 정치체(수장층) 권력 기반의 비약적인 강화 모습으로 이해된다. 이와 같은 대동강권의 강북지역을 중심으로 하는 정치체는 요동~북한지역의 정가와자유형 유적군과 관련된다. 특히 혼하~태자하권-압록강권-대동강권 거점 지역 간의 동질적인 무기-제의체계를 바탕으로 긴밀하게 연결되는 것은 지역 집단들이 고조선의 사회 체계 속에 포괄됐기 때문으로 판단된다.
The bronze artifacts of North Korea region have locality. Bronze daggers, spearheads, axes, and mirrors linked to the Liaodong region, are primarily centered in the western part of North Korea; by contrast, some of bronze spearheads and axes linked to the Jilin region are centered in the eastern part of North Korea, indicating the existence of a differentiated network of mutual interactions. The Mandolin-shaped Bronze Daggers Culture in the North Korean region underwent two or four stages of change. During the 1st and 2nd stages, the artifacts were mainly from the southern regions and were found in dolmen-stone and coffin tombs. However, due to the lack of tombs with bronze artifacts, it is difficult to determine the existence of a well-organized political entity. By contrast, during the 3rd and 4th stages, weapons and ritual artifacts were discovered individually or in combination at tombs, such as stone-lined tombs and pit tombs, located in the northern region and centered around the existing tomb culture. It has been confirmed that the distribution of prominent tombs increased and continued within the region. The Liaodong regions and North Korea region are considered to be closely connected based on a similar weapon-tribute system, believed to be due to their inclusion within the social system of Gojoseon.
