온라인 스토킹 피해는 나날이 증가하고 있으나, 온라인 스토킹에 대한 경찰 신고 등의 대응 방식이나 이러한 대응 방식에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구는 매우 드물다. 본 연구에서는 우선 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움이 온라인 스토킹 피해 대응 방식에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 이때, 둘 간의 관계에서 유기불안과 거부민감성이 영향을 미치는지 알아보기 위해 순차적 매개효과를 분석하였다. 20-30대 남녀 총 200명(각각 100명)을 대상으로 온라인 스토킹에 대한 대응 방식에 있어 성별 및 연령에 따른 차이를 살펴보고, 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움과 온라인 스토킹 피해 대응 방식, 유기불안과 거부민감성 간의 관계를 상관분석과 순차적 매개효과 분석을 통해 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 우선 연령이 낮을수록 온라인 스토킹 피해에 대해 경찰에 신고하는 방식으로 대응하는 경향이 높았다. 또한 남성은 여성보다 상대방에게 항의하고 사과를 요구하는 비율이 높은 반면, 여성은 남성보다 상대방 계정이나 전화번호를 차단하거나 본인 계정이나 전화번호를 변경하고, 경찰을 제외한 다른 기관에 도움을 요청하거나 주변인에 도움을 요청하려는 비율이 더 높았다. 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움과 경찰 신고 대응 방식 사이의 관계에서 유기불안과 거부민감성의 순차적 매개효과가 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로 온라인 스토킹 피해자 보호 및 지원과 관련하여 본 연구의 정책적 함의에 대해 논의하였다.
In spite of the recent increase of online stalking, research on coping skills for online stalking such as police reporting and factors affecting coping skills remains scarce. We examined the relation between online stalking coping skills and fear of negative evaluation. The sequential mediation effect of abandonment anxiety and rejection sensitivity were investigated between online stalking coping skills and fear of negative evaluation. Based on a sample of 100 females and 100 males in their 20s or 30s, we examined difference in online stalking coping skill by gender and age, and conducted correlation analysis and sequential mediation analysis to examine how fear of negative evaluation, online stalking coping skills, abandonment anxiety, and rejection sensitivity affected one another. As a result, the lower the age, the more likely to report online stalking to the police. Men were more likely to expostulate with the stalker and demand an apology than women. Compared to men, women were more likely to block the account or phone number of the stalker, change their own account or phone number, and ask help from institutions other than police or other people. The sequential mediation effects of abandonment anxiety and rejection sensitivity were significant between fear of negative evaluation and police reporting. The policy implications of the study on online stalking victim support were discussed.
