Sŏsanggi Aengaengga is a newly discovered narrative style Korean revised version of Xixiangji, and unique version jointly transcribed by Mrs. Jeonggang(1901-1949) who lived in Gyeongnam in the early 20th century with women from the same family in 1921. Sŏsanggi Aengaengga is another meaningful version which shows active and independent acceptance of Xixiangji in that it is the narrative style revised version of the independent “series” newly found. The point which revised a play to be narrative style, reorganized them to be a kind of “song play” by maximizing a sense of rhythm as much as they possibly can, and added performance characteristics to the text is a noteworthy feature in it when compared to the existing Korean revised versions. In terms of the Korean acceptance history of Xixiangji, Sŏsanggi Aengaengga is the version which features the revised version reorganized especially by focusing on Chapter 5 (That is, ‘the sequel (續篇)’) among the translated versions disclosed until now. For Sŏsanggi Aengaengga, various genre elements were mixed in the reorganization process and aspects of intertextuality including inserting or borrowing other phrases of the existing texts into it in addition to Xixiangji were shown. On the other hand, Sŏsanggi Aengaengga is very meaningful in that it is the first and only version which disclosed the female transcriber's identity among the Korean versions of Xixiangji disclosed until now, and a text that people can get a sense of her taste in books or cultural and sophisticated levels through the transcription records included in it.
