이 글에서는 효종의 비 인선왕후가 딸 숙휘공주에게 보낸 언간에 대하여 살펴보고자 했다. 이미 이루어진 그들 언간에 대한 판독을 시발점으로 삼아서, 그들에 담겨 있는 구체적인 상황에 대한 분석과 검토를 시도해보았다. 전체 16건에 이르는 언간은 대체로 1653년 이후, 그리고 1674년 이전에 쓰여진것이다. 1653년은 숙휘공주가 혼인하는 시점이며, 1674년은 인선왕후가 병을 앓다가 세상을 떠나는 시점이기 때문이다. 또한 숙휘공주의 첫 아들 인상이 태어나는 1658 년, 효종이 승하하는 1659년, 그리고 부마 정제현이 사망하는 1662년은 언간의 작성시기를 가늠하는데 유용한 지표가 된다. 인선왕후의 언간 16건은 숙휘공주가 보낸 편지에 대한 답신이라는 성격을 지니고있다. 또한 서로 안부를 묻고 염려하는 편지이지만, 그 내용에 따라서 1)행복한 신혼생활, 2)아이들[인상, 효희, 태상] 이야기, 3)부마 정제현의 병환, 4)효종과 인선왕후의건강과 안부, 그리고 5)집안사정과 기타 등으로 나누어볼 수 있다. 1662년 부마 정제현이 젊은 나이로 사망하는 것은 숙휘공주는 물론이고 왕실의큰 슬픔이었다. 16건 외에 언간은 전해지지 않는다. 그 슬픔이 심한 탓에, 숙휘공주와인선왕후는 다시 언간을 쓸 수 있는 마음의 여유를 얻지 못했던 것으로 여겨진다.
This article attempted to examine the Eongans sent by Queen Inseon(1619-1674), wife of King Hyojong, the 17th king of the Joseon Dynasty, to her daughter Princess Sukhwi(1642-1696). Using the reading and annotation of their already made remarks as a starting point, we tried to analyze and review the specific situation and meaning contained in them. A total of 16 Eongans are believed to have been written since 1653 and before 1674. This is because 1653 was the time when Princess Sukhui married, and 1674 was the time when Queen Inseon died after suffering from illness. In addition, 1658 when his first son(Jeong In-sang) was born, 1659 when King Hyojong died, and 1662, when Jeong Je-hyeon died, are useful points for estimating the timing of writing the Eongans. Above all, Queen Inseon’s 16 Eongans have the characteristic of a reply to a letter[Eongan] sent by Princess Sukhwi. It is also a Eongan of concern for each other, but depending on the content, it can be divided into 1)happy newlyweds, 2) children’s stories (Insang, Hyohee, Taesang), 3)Jeong Je-hyeon’s illness, 4) Hyo-jong and Queen In-seon’s health, and 5) family affairs and others. amily’s great sorrow that Jeong Je-hyeon died young while suffering. It seems that she was so sad that she could not afford to write her Eongan again.
